Witcher 3 literally does that.
Actually almost every switch port of a pc game has that feature.
Soda Dungeon 1 & 2 and Bit Heroes does that too.
Honestly the only reason I can think of why the devs may not want to do it is because the save data might not be linked to an account. And developing an infrastructure to make this possible may cost more than it is worth.

That's because the Mobile version IS running off of the new game engine whilst the PC version is still yet to be updated to it.
