Then get the Yellow Sign ASAP :P

Yellow Sign. You need this first.

Then make sure to collect the two red items on the map next time you do a run, and get the Laurel on the way and max that. This evolves into an item that pretty much guarantees you will survive Death’s damage.

To help kill him I suggest also getting the Gold and Silver rings and leveling up the Clock Lancet all the way. This basically cuts his absurd health in half and helps freeze him while you do enough damage. I like stacking evolved Holy Water, Bible and whatever else such as evolved pentagram as well to finish him off

I got the game a few days ago and I'm sorry if this sounds incredibly noob but how do you even do that? I have to walk for so long, I can barely pick up any xp on the way and it gets incredibly hard really fast. I've been trying for a lot of games and can't seem to be able to even get the two metaglios...

Hyper mode does wonders for actually getting to those far-flung pickups in a reasonable amount of time. for the XP problem, stand and fight when there's swarms of squishy enemies giving XP and just run when there are few/tough enemies that aren't worth the trouble.

I have unlocked it, never tried it. This is the first game of the sort I'm playing at all and I'm a bit dumb about how to proceed, I'm used to playing action rpgs or hack'n'slash.
I'm also trying to unlock the damn scroll and I wanted to pick up the metaglio to do it but I tried many times and was just getting frustrated. I completed all unlocked stages and now I completely lost the plot after meeting Sketamari and trying Cappella Magna :/

edit: I tried standing and figthing and then walking a bit and all but it gets way too long in normal mode.

There isn't a plot.

You kill things because you can't find the vampire.

You eat floor chicken on the way.

Eventually Death gets tired of checking in newly killed critters and comes for your head.

That's it.

"Lost the plot" means "I'm not getting it"/"I don't understand"/"I'm confused" not the literal plot. It's an expression. I don't know if you're trolling me or what.

Play a bit more to unlock some more permanent upgrades and when you’re ready, just pick a stage and character you feel comfortable with and farm exp points on one spot or while slowly moving to the arrows or rings until you get a build that will make you easily kill enemies and collect exp as you walk. The crown and orb helps a lot. You should probably have that relic that unlocks limit break on your weapons before you try this too. Afterwards, it’s honestly not that hard to get the laurel and lancelot evos to kill death. Understanding what weapon evos are out there and what works for your character is good too.

There is an item in Gallo Tower that will help you out a lot. After you obtain it, survive for 31 minutes in Mad Forest...
And remember that xp is never lost. They just merge into bigger nearby gems when they exceed a certain ammount, so just run along!

I got both the relics in Gallo Tower! So I need to unlock the Arcana first? I cannot survive death though, atm... Not without being able to pick up the Metaglios and Rings.

I can't survive Cappella Magna for more than 15 mins let alone beat the boss, but I will try more! I beat every other stage including bone zone

To get Yellow Sign you need to get to the end of Moongolow and then complete the event (which will show up as a new stage if you fail it for the first time)
As for general surviving... First - try to get as many evolutions as you can. Second - try to get items which go well together. For example, Duplicator is useless with Garlic. Third - level up priority is generally like this:
1) item needed for evolution (if don't have)
2) highest level weapon
3) passive which helps the most
And, of course, power-ups from main menu go a long way.
Raven Dec 1, 2022 @ 3:57pm
I have the yellow sign, almost filled the entire power ups grid in the main menu (I'm missing only 3 or 4 ticks apart from curse, which is of course empty).
I might have to try different characters in cappella magna to see if their stats/initial weapon will change the result.
Noelle Dec 1, 2022 @ 8:17pm
Remember that there's no shame in refunding the Curse powerup. Sometimes it's necessary, e.g. for Peppino completions.
Gunspire[GD] Dec 2, 2022 @ 11:37pm
Finish the reaper by having the following: Yellow Sign, Metaglio Left, Metaglio Right, Crimson Shroud, (Max them out) Evolve to Crimson Shroud Then do the same with the Silver and Gold rings, Then evolve to Corridor, Then wait till' 30 mins then kill him there will be 5 golden eggs, then White Hand spawns so be careful or have a broken run! Next Time i'll do a Golden Egg strategy!
