How do I discover Weapon Evolutions & Unions that are currently unknown?

Looking at my Grimoire, I see that some of my weapon evolutions have known recipes, while others have "?" in them. How do I discover which weapons go with which passives in order to evolve? Is it just a matter of obtaining both parts at the same time, which will then reveal in the grimoire that they indeed go together?

Just look at a guide that shows them all. You obviously need to have both weapons unlocked though

If you don't want to use the wiki, go by process of elimination, no passive is used twice to evolve two actives.
If you've already evolved a weapon with a certain passive, that passive isn't used anywhere else.

Torona's Box says Hello! Seeing as it both evolves Victory Sword and Flames of Mispell into Sole Solution and Ashes of Misplell respectively.

I think you need to actually evolve for it to show up in the grimoire. Just take 6 weapons you never evolved and pair them with 6 passives that are also not listed yet. You'll have a high chance of discovering at least one new evolution.

A few weapons combine with other weapons. Those are very obvious.

Hi, I looked up the evolutions since they were not showing up in my grimoire, and tried to reveal the ? question mark for the ones I did not have revealed.
the lightning ring + duplicator and fire wand + spinach- I had all 4 in this last run, but still they were not revealed.
I have all the expansions so far as well, and I can see the icons of the duplicator and spinach to the right for combos I cannot yet make, but I cannot see them instead of the question mark. Could this be a bug or is it something I'm doing wrong?

You need to actually evolve them to have the evolution logged.
You evolve by leveling up the weapon to max level and then grabbing an evolution chest. Usually you can only get one evolution per chest.

Not true anymore.
Toronas Box is the upgrade passive for Flames of Mispell and Victory Sword
Skull o maniac helps Shadow Servant and Song of Mana
Ezkizibur and Runetracer is paired with Armor
Theres many more.

So having armor lets you upgrade both Ezkizzibur and Runetracer in the same run.

You can also go to the moon map that gives you all items, then just choose the weapons you don´t know the evolution of and start upgrading them.
