Pixel graphics are cool and distinct... what am I seeing?
so amazingly addictive game. my steam deck is practically the vampire survivor client.

anyway, there's something very unique about the way the pixel graphics look in this game, whether it's the splash screen graphics or the in game art, it does not look like standard pixel graphics as we're used to seeing in other retro games or on the emulator for 8 and 16 bit systems.

why is this? what is the difference?

if i have to make a comparison, it kinda reminds me of how SEVEN CITIES OF GOLD looked on my atari 800xl...

is it that the blocks are a non square aspect ratio? i'm not even sure that they are but would really love to be able to articulate the difference that i'm seeing.

thanks and great game!

CRT displays vs LCD/LED displays, scanlines, refresh rate, aspect ratio... plenty of things, which is why playing very old games on modern displays feel odd. There really isn't a way to easily replicate it... just google CRT pixels, and know that replicating that would not really be feasible.
