So, uhh, it costs like three hundred thousand gold. I recognize that it would have been a lot easier to unlock it earlier, but now that I've unlocked almost everyone else, is there a way to buy it with a non-insane amount of grinding?

If you've unlocked Big Trouser, using him would make farming gold a lot easier as he gains Greed with each level. There's a decent guide using Queen Sigma and the Moonglow map to farm gold when you're zero to low egg level:

MissingN's insane purchase cost was a safeguard by the Dev to dissuade those who used to try to unlock him by save file manipulation back in the day. I guess the Dev kept the price as is because people nowadays are farming for so much gold that 300k is just a pittance nowadays.

Queen sigma + gold arcana. Here's my first run with queen sigma, I didn't even set out to make gold, I just wanted to try the final unlock, and as you can see she just gets all the gold anyway.
