Is Smith IV is the best character right now to spend golden eggs on?

Use eggs on whichever character you like. It really doesn't matter who you put them on.

Smith has great scaling. Pugnala does too. Trouser chooses starting weapon, big edge. And has a greed bonus scaling. Gains does growth which can help, and the derpy dargon does curse which can help.

Smith has the best scaling, but the birds end up obscuring the screen so much that it's almost impossible to tell what the heck is going on anymore. same with phieraggi

Smith's level-up bonuses apply to stats that have caps. Thus some eggs will help you reach those caps faster (if that's what you want), but a lot of eggs will almost completely negate the usefulness of his level-up bonuses. "A lot" in this context is over 10,000, though, so there's room to work with.

Basically. Smith is a great starter for farming runs because of his scaling. If you want some fast gains throwing some eggs on him to get other characters started may well be faster than just working on those characters directly.

Except for maybe greed+growth, but otherwise he is a egg char without eggs :P

I used to advocate for Giovanna as the character to Egg due to her starting with Gatti Amari which allows her to AFK in Cappella Magna with no interference from other weapons, but Big Trouser has completely knocked her off her throne since he can also start with Gatti Amari (or choose not to if you want to do something else) and has Greed scaling instead of Speed, with Greed being objectively better when the Eggs get high enough since Speed will eventually cap from Eggs alone, but Greed never will.

I gave Gyorunton a try in The Bone Zone prior to Big Trouser's debut, but his ability to evolve weapons early didn't seem to make up for the Bracelet's mediocrity. Also for what it matters, I feel that there's a sweet spot when you're just getting started with Eggs where it's better to farm the Guardians instead of buying Eggs from the Merchant, provided you can bring them down in a timely fashion.

Trouser is the best because he can choose whatever weapon he wants. This alone is good enough for me.

I used to main Concetta because area scaling sounds fun, but Shadow Pinion gets tedious.

If you think about it.. smith is a waste of eggs because of the caps. His potential goes out of the window once he is capped. Vandalier also is either a hit or miss. I for example hate it. Only gets gud once you are fully build.

I enjoy Leda, Death, Pugnala and Gennaro. Knifes are awesome and having +1 amount for everything also is great. Pugnala is great mainly because she only needs tiragisu and exp to git gud.

Trouser ofc also is super nice. I'm currently pumping all my playtime into him.

I feel like best egg investment atm would be on Big Trouser. He would be your go-to egg farming guy. My best record is 650k gold so far but I've seen a VS YouTuber getting more than 6m gold in a single run with him. Sure, you can invest on other characters, but you definitely should invest as much egg possible on Big Trouser first so that its easier to invest on the others.

So yeah, Big Trousers is No. 1 pick at this moment.

Lol that's much more than me I only have 19 eggs on her . But even with zero eggs she's really strong, I always pick awake for starting arcana, than she basically becomes invincible once you level up the whips.

It depends on the map but I mostly go with Mad grove first to have a good exp collecting tool. Now that I think about it I could pick it up later but I don't have a good idea for starting arcana and Awake doesn't provide value right away
