Beginner friendly character
What would you say is a good character for beginners to understand and learn the game?

Gennaro one of the strongest characters if you haven't power ups.

poe. Now I know I am going to get some hate on garlic. But its going to carry you through the early game and into the late game easy.

Honestly Garlic has changed from one of my most disliked weapons to one of my favorite defensive ones, given the choice between bible and Garlic. I'd take garlic every time now. Before it was the other way around.

Poe is very strong indeed. Garlic will get rid of all the bats in the forest and the 25+ magnet is also very good. Later, you will grab xp as you kill the ennemies, making you even stronger because you will level up fast.

yeah garlic got me through the early game, it also breaks bullets from later stages. The bible is absolutely a better source of damage but you just cant beat that early coverage.

Garlic isn't even weak in the endgame any more, thanks to the fact that it actually scales its damage tick rate with Cooldown, and the fact that Tragic Princess exists now.

I also vote for garlic, easiest early game weapon.

Imelda's also not bad for learning the game. The Magic Wand is nice and straightforward, and the XP boost helps keep you competitive even if you've had to leave stuff behind.

Poe/Imelda/Pasqualina got me thru the initial early game gold grind, but as soon as you get Mortaccio - it's game on!

I think Imelda was the character I used when I won my very first game.
Magic Wand isn't a super weapon, but it is pretty good and, as you said, her XP bonus is nice to have as well.

Poe. Nobody has as many friends as the man with many garlic-toes.

Am I the only one who won my first couple games with Antonio? o.o

I remember it occurred immediately after I unlocked the Duplicator, I won my next couple runs. I also remember maxing Knife on these early runs, although I usually don't go for Knife now.

I think Antonio is great due to his +might bonus. Too bad whip is difficult to position/use. But evolved whip and evolved garlic (both with life leech) can easily get you to the end game, although you don't get the pleasure of deleting everything on the screen like with projectile builds. Further it works well once you unlock arcanas since the first arcana you get is the double hp one which works off both those skills.

Imelda and Pasqualina are probably the most beginner friendly. Rune Tracer and Magic Wand are good starting weapons.
