how does Gold Fever ACTUALLY work?
I thought it filled the bar by killing enemies at first, but it seems like when you kill too fast the bar doesn't even budge?

collecting bag of gold pickups refills the bar, killing enemies just gives gold to the combo.

though it may actually be ALL gold pickup items just for different amounts of bar but its hard to see during gold fever. so kill clay pots or torches to pick up gold, or get evolved cats which turn everything into gold pickups and collect them automatically

Killing enemies (Or anything else that gives you gold) pushes the bar back up. However... when you cross certain thresholds of gold earned, the bar starts dropping faster.

I know for sure that at 10,000 20,000 30,000 etc it keeps getting harder and harder to keep the bar up. You have to gain gold faster and faster as the gold fever goes on, and eventually of course you just can't manage it.

faster kills+ disco arcania helps alot.

Curse actually helps as long as you're not taking too long to kill the enemies, because more enemies = more kills = more money.

The Stone Mask also helps.

Killing fast helps, but basically no matter what enemy you kill you get the same amount of gauge

So waves that give small, plentiful, easy to kill enemies keep the gauge going much better than waves that have fewer enemies that are harder to kill, as you may have noticed the gauge suddenly dips on some waves.

On waves where you're having difficulties killing the enemies, it helps to look around carefully for money bags, since those give massive boosts to the gauge. Just be mindful of your movement speed as well, as going too fast may keep the bags from reaching you.

Voracious hunger(evolved cats) picks up gold bags for you helping sustain gold fever. When you go beyond 100k, you need pretty much constant gold bags to maintain it.

(Warning: Hacked/cheat run)
Yeah, as you can see, the higher the amount of gold you have gotten, the faster the bar goes down. After 500k it goes down super fast, and it's nearly impossible to maintain once it hits 1 million.

It's just impossible to maintain a gold fever on some waves even if you're killing everything really fast and at a high curse level.
As AnonTwo said, it makes a big difference whether the wave has numerous weak enemies or fewer tough enemies.

It is better not to use Voracious hunger as this allows you more freedom to pick up the gold bags on your own when you're aiming to maintain long fever runs as this allows you to stagger the gold coming in to refill the bar. Each bag basically refills the bar to max so you want to stagger picking up bags once you notice the bar becomes harder to maintain. This is also a good strategy when you're dealing with tougher mobs or at the 28-29 minute mark of Bone Zone, this way you're maintaining the healing and gold coming in without being too pressured (since you know which direction to go to refill your bar at all times).

I agree with Red Death, not you. He specifically stated that at higher levels of gold fever (100k+) you basically need constant gold bags to keep it filled.

The amount the bar is filled per gold decreases the higher your total, so once you're regularly blowing past 50k per gold fever, gold bags only fill less than half your bar. When you get to 70k, they're less than a quarter of the bar.

I can understand what you're saying for OTHER levels than Bone Zone, but because the braziers in Bone Zone ONLY drop currency (either coins or bags) AND respawn at the max rate regardless of your luck, you shouldn't need to fish for bags nearly as much, making the Voracious Hunger even more useful as it can collect bags for you that aren't even on your screen.

The higher your passive greed and the greater your ability to quickly kill enemies the more useful Voracious Hunger becomes on Bone Zone until you are almost always exceeding 50k per gold fever and often exceeding 100k. Therefore, the more eggs you have the more powerful Voracious Hunger becomes on Bone Zone.
