Why is it IMPOSSIBLE to get Giovanna to lvl 99?

I've been trying at least three times a day for 2 weeks straight. I can NOT get Giovanna past level 41. I can survive 15 minutes just fine. But I can not get the lvl 99 cheive. This is ridiculous hard. Why? Why does this one character HAVE to be THIS friggin' hard? I can't continue. Until I get her to 99, my progression is stopped.

I didn't realize that was happening....
Nice to know, let's see if that helps.
Also, I thought hurry mode helped in leveling up faster.....

Yeah, Hurry mode just makes the time go faster, you and enemies still move at the same speed, which means they take the same time to get to your weapons' range and thus you'll kill less of them per wave than without Hurry mode.
