Best you can do it delete the save (make a backup) and have her start from 0. No Steam achievements but thery all correspond to the ingame challenges, which is better than nothing.
No idea how to keep 2 saves at the same time.
Have your friend make her own user account on the PC and the issue will vanish not just for Vampire Survivors.
She has her own account.
Here's a basic breakdown:
We use the same PC - I have my account, she has hers (Windows profiles/accounts).
She has her Steam account on her windows profile, I have my Steam account on mine.
In the case of every single game we've ever both played, they ALWAYS are fresh starts. About two weeks ago, as an example, she downloaded Slime Rancher of which I already have a save for and already have trophies for. When she booted it up (on her windows profile/Steam account), my save wasn't there and didn't register. A blank slate. This is how it always is.
But for some reason with Vampire Survivors, it's not doing that. It's using my save. Only this game, to be clear. Every and I mean - every - other game does not do this. I do not understand how or why this one is.
All I can say (and I don't know how it could even affect you) is that when I moved form GPass to here I had to delete the savegame in different folders because it kept picking it up, it wasn't a single wasy file.
In case you don't: "The Yellow Sign is originally referred to in the Robert W. Chambers anthology "The King In Yellow", and since this predates the works of H.P. Lovecraft had nothing whatsoever to do with the Mythos or any related concepts. Instead, as with the yellow colour of the original cover of the novel Dracula, it was an oblique reference to the idea of contagion rising to the level of a supernatural force.
The Yellow Sign in Chambers' work is never described, but those who see it or are shown it are put on the path to self destruction, much in the same way that in "The King in Yellow" people can commit suicide or be driven to despair and suicide simply by reading the book of that name within the stories of the anthology. There is a subtlety and gothic element to the original conception that is completely lost in the reductionist syncretism of reducing the Sign to something akin to a protective pentagram."
they literally explained they are using different windows profiles/accounts.
%APPDATA% \Vampire_Survivors\saves\*.sav
Windows profiles will do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for changing this. If the saves were in the %user folders then profiles would work.
Consider changing "Steam account" in the opening statement with ">>>STEAM ACCOUNT<<<"
Maybe that will help people that post talk about cloud saves and family sharing.
My personal suspicion though is that yes, you both have everything split, however, steam is probably the same client and if it's saving on a client that is shared between all windows accounts. Then default local machine saves will be shared, because the permissions are there from the Steam client install, this is, unless the game is one of those that with local saves creates it's own folder on a profile folder like "my games" then it might create different ones. If it's just going on those "common" and "approaming" folders, there ya go.
Trailer park IT solution: grab the save, paste it somewhere else, create a shortcut for you and her so you can both go grab your version when it's your turn playing the game and at that moment paste over whatever is on the save folder. This assumes you're not using cloud save for the game.
Not to mention that your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ slution has already been suggested.
You are aware that %APPDATA% lives inside a user profile, right? And switching profiles will change it's location per user.
By default %APPDATA% points to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming
It was just missing this little bit. A shortcut and a folder for each one of them is what I added which is not much. I am one of those dense moffos I mentioned but at least I don't skim OP and jump to post and frustrate OP into repeating themselves. Not saying it was you but look up lol
Are you 100% sure, and I do mean 100%, that she was on her windows account at the time? If she accidentally was on your windows account and booted the game through her steam then it would trigger this.
