There really isn't any reason to ever use Vicious Hunger. The big excuse I hear is that it's good for generating gold, but the fact is the gold conversion rate is pretty poor, and the larger gains in relation to a build without it is mostly due to the Stone Mask itself, which you wouldn't ever take unless you're evolving Gatti Amari in the first place (or you're in the library). A solid damage setup will maintain Gold Fever just fine, and Vicious Hunger is detrimental to Disco of Gold because it can eat your gold bags, which are essential for maintaining Gold Fever on thinner waves and against tougher enemies.

want to farm gold? use hunger. otherwise don't.

not that hard a concept tbh, the item that gives you a crap ton of gold is for getting crap tons of gold.
You see, if I evolve a weapon, I expect that the new weapon will be more effective under all aspects, not a downgraded version of the previous one (just only for farming gold... Useless, without mentioning that will waste a slot for a useful passive ability)
Where was that written in the rule book?

Well there's your mistake. Though perhaps it's not entirely your fault for this limited thinking. After all, the AA and AAA games have been largely creatively bankrupt for over a decade now. It's extremely rare to find a AA or AAA game where a new weapon is creative instead of just "big wepun duz big nummers! smashsmash!" Welcome to a game that's actually creative while being fun.

look this is simple common logic, i didn't make mistakes... personally i never saw a game when you purchase an upgrade of something do the opposite effect... i'm not complaining about it (quite the contrary, a passive slot for free it's always good), i just don't understand why it should work in that way, that's all

if you think about it the evolution is actually op if you have the gold arcana

But it's not the "opposite" effect, it's just a different one. Vicious Hunger focuses on generating gold instead of doing damage. It's there to farm gold and maintain your gold fevers, which makes you nearly unkillable with the Disco of Gold Arcana.

And yes, assuming that every upgrade is straight up better in every aspect is a mistake. There are tons of games where you sacrifice something in order to get something else, particularly in the roguelike/roguelike genras.

THis is a strange statement to make because that's never been how every single game worked.
Several games had side grade weapons at a minimum.

Voracious Hunger when combined with Disco of Gold makes your health regeneration go through the roof. That said, it is pretty weak unless your cats have fed on lots of chicken. Basically, you need 121 birds to maximize Hunger's viability. Unfortunately, you can only acquire the chicken before evolution, not after.

Vicious Hunger grabs the gold bags for you, it doesn't eat it. Plus the enemies and crystals that turn into gold coins because of the eyes will prolong the Gold Fever. It is genuinely the best weapon to go insane with Gold Fevers. If you want a really strong build, you gotta pair it with Sarabande of Healing.

Personally I don't see it as a gold generating weapon as without it, you can break even with the extra levels you'd get; also Gold Fevers are a thing which makes earning gold quite trivial. I see as a weapon you'd use in a very specific build, i.e Gold Fever build. I wouldn't use VH without disco of gold.

Vicious Hunger grabs the gold bags for you, it doesn't eat it.
And this is just as big of a problem. If you pick up a gold bag during fever, it extends the duration a bit. If you pick it up as it ends, you get a full bar again. The optimal strategy when using Disco of Gold is to leave bags uncollected and pick them up as needed to start the fever again.
I don't really know why people want to farm gold in the first place. By the time you unlock that weapon you're really not hurting for cash. If anything, this game needs some serious gold sinks that are repeatable, because gold just feels unnecessary. Greed was the last powerup that I purchased because I just didn't need it.
Vicious is literally just... not good at the moment yeah. Meh damage that also eats your XP and bad passive slot. Its sole purpose is for Gold Disco meme.

With that said dev hints that there might be ways to sink gold in the upcoming update so we will see but at the moment gold is pretty much useless.
