Doubt it. But unlocking the new secret characters was certainly faster with hurry mode on, rather than not having it. So it saves time.
It also makes the game harder in what I perceive as a better way than the curse mechanic. The curse mechanic did make the game harder, but it also worsened the problem of you maxing out the character way to early and I also think it further unbalanced the game as it further emphasized area weapons.
For those who don't mind having your character max out early, this mode will probably be less interesting.
Because it's fun.
I had some sympathy for the developer and thought they were just an indie that got their lucky chance until I realized that their main inspiration wasn't Castlevania.
You can do this as well. Make a game that incorporates the best parts of Magic and Vampire Survivors. If you make a superior product of this idea, then you can grab the customers. That's how business works and while there are parts of business that's not working out as intended, this is not one of them.
You could make up a formula that makes the timer translate those fake 30m into real visible 15m or just make the visible timer count 1 each 2 ticks (2 fake Hurry Mode seconds) so it shows real time
More like Hurry up and DIE mode!
ha ha ha, then I realized I could turn OFF the 50% curse and actually have a fighting chance.
I like it. It's a good challenge mode. You don't have the luxury of picking weapons/passives you enjoy. You have to pick what WORKS or you'll never make it half-way through a run.
Not the way I'd play most of the time but, when I think I have the game mastered, it'll teach me some humility.
