Rare upgrade doesn't drop
I am trying to get "Evolve the Song Of Mana." and "Evolve and unite Phiera Der Tuphello and Eight The Sparrow." but these damn upgrades never drop, today I had song of mana fully upgraded, ready to get that one last drop. Chest gave me just money, as if there was nothing to upgrade anymore, wth? I had no other rare upgrades, is there a timer or level limit for getting those rare drops?

Do you know that both require a specific accessory? I would think people would given that every evolution except the birds require one.
Song of Mana requires Skull O'Maniac, the two guns requires Tiragisu.

there is also a time limit, weapons wont evolve even if you have all the right levels and parts until you hit the 10 minute mark. Only chests that drop starting from the 10 minute mark have the capability of granting you evolved weapons.

So saving up the pre-10 minute chests you get from the early bosses wont give you evolved items if you open them after the 10 minute mark.

wow I didn't know this, why isn't it described within the game? Really stupid requirements there. Just saw on the wiki for the details, but do I need the max lvl Skull & Tiragisu for the evolution?

Yeah just checked the wiki, weird that there is no explanation within the game..

You do not need the items to be a greater level than 1. Mad Forest also has a Skull O'Maniac just sitting around, so that's the most reliable place to get Mannajja for the first time. If you can help it, play on Hyper Mode so that it's not as slow to actually get there.

Also in the Dairy Plant, all chests are capable of evolving weapons. It is an exception to the ten minute rule present in the other areas.

As for why it's not described in the game, this isn't out of the ordinary. Vandalier is the odd one out for not requiring a passive item to get, but I guess the trade-off is that you have to level it instead of it starting at full power like Phieraggi or the other evolved weapons.

There's no explanation for any of the combinations, probably to encourage natural discovery. Personally I'd rather games to allow players to figure things out through natural progression / trial and error rather than just telling you everything

To each their own I suppose, I like encyclopedic information though maybe explored bit by bit but have it as a reference. Or at least game can say that there is some sort of requirement system for upgrades without explicitly giving all details, there is literally no way to know this, what if I never want to get the curse skull? Kinda locks you out without you knowing.

I mean, I come from the generation of gamers who, if they needed game info, had to call a number in the game manual to talk to a human. Lots of games used to have hidden things like this as a means to encourage players to try things on their own.

I already have the combos memorized, but I thought the last patch made it so the game indicates when a new item pairs with something you have?

Whenever you get an evolved weapon, the game tells you which passive it required. So your first evolved weapon would be a surprise if you weren't aware, but after that, you'd know that you probably require something. After that it's a matter of either spoiling yourself or simple trial and error.

This basically. The evolved things were not some big secret. Yes the requirements were unusual but the game gives you plenty of hints. All evolved items clearly listing requirements to evolve and none of them being the same. From there it is a simple matter of experimentation. Well these ones do not have any noteable increase on the item itself neither does Santa Water. You had all the pieces to work with.

Well, that's just the nature of this game. It has a heavy emphasis on discovery

Which I think holds true for most rogue-lite games?

You're of course welcome to wiki the answers, it's part of the surprise of the game to find new combinations you weren't expecting.

Which is also why you should just never put a 'never' on any item in the game. While there are still some that don't upgrade, there aren't many.

Because you're supposed to experiment and figure it out.

If you get gold bags from a chest, then you should immediately know that you don't have the right combo. So retry and get different items.

It basically tells you "All the items you currently have are not the right one. So restart and pick all new items."

No items overlap, all items are used in one single evolution only.

For both items that require two weapons the hint is the weapons are basically identical but changed color. Once you have both guns maxed and it doesn't evolve you should know it must need another item in the combo, and that item is not one you currently have, so dive into your item collection and set up a new build that uses all different items until it triggers.

Once it triggers the evolution you now know that combo forever because the evolution tool tip states what the combo item is in collection.

I get the sentiment of this remark, but you know that the vast majority of people that play this game absolutely did not do this and ran to guides lmao
You don't even need to run as Dex always posts updated guides frequently.
