Warning to everyone. Pentagram relic makes you weaker.

A full screen clear may sound strong, but it also removes all treasure chests and bosses too. It's near impossible to pick up or attain any treasure chests because pentagram just deletes everything. And the monsters deleted don't drop anything, so you are weaker in the long run since it takes about 10 seconds before the monsters reaches you again for drops. It completely ruined my last run because every treasure I tried to get, the pentagram would just delete it from the screen. So I eventually ended up with less levels and no gold at the end.

so basically, every minute, you get:
0 exp
no treasures or gold
10 seconds of no drops as monsters slowly walk back to you.
difficult to kill bosses in time before they get erased.

It completely ruins your run. Do not get it. I eventually abandoned my run at the 16 minute mark after it deleted countless treasure chests and bosses. I ended the game with about 200gold total. What a waste of time.

its fine as it is. just take it late 25+ minutes
its kills on every take everything and every 60 secounds (minus 10 on upgrade)
and if you take it early and get to level it up early it just carries you on level 6

If we both agree that any other weapon would have gotten you further... then you were weaker for taking pentagram.

Hmm, so I did a little bit of research, a.k.a. some 10 runs with Pentagram and 10 without. I have come to the conclusion that it does not brick your build, as you don't need anything past 2 good weapons anyway, BUT it does reduce the amount of money you will make. On average, I made 10.3k per run without the Pentagram, with it, I made 8.3k on average. It also did not really help in the end-game, which is where you would think it would be good. It just wipes the whole screen, but all the monsters are back at it in less than a second. It is a really cool weapon thematically, so I would still say it is not bad, just something that does not do much in terms of how useful it is.

In general, tho, you can say that any weapon in the game "sucks", if the prerequisite of it being good is how necessary it is for runs, as no weapon is needed to finish a run. Plus, the Bible, which is probably most people's OP pick, is pretty trash if you pick 2-3 good full screen range weapons, as it literally does not do anything.

In the end - Use whatever you like, all weapons are viable and fun to someone, there will probably be more of them later on, so it will be less likely that you will be forced to use your most disliked weapon.

Edit: Except for Garlic. That weapon does absolutely nothing past some 10-15min mark, it's a full on dead slot, if you pick it. I still pick it, tho, it makes the early-game so much more convenient.

Thanks for the tests. That is good to know.
One good think about garlic is that, if you have enough range on it, it will stop both the bat/ghost swarms as well as the exploding ghosts. It might even prevent the swarms from pushing other enemies into you.
It also does slow enemies down a little bit as it will apply a small hit-stun every time it ticks. So while it is indeed dead damage wise in the later game, it still has some utility.

And no, I have had Garlic in quite a lot of finished runs, if you would read the whole thing, that would not be a question.
Still have no idea about what 10 of 22 is testing. I did 20 test runs with recorded gold/level amount in total, will probably keep recording the data in the future as well.

Edit: 10 hours you mean? Probably more, as I do quite a few runs that go to 34-36min marks. Some of them are almost fully afk after 15min mark, so I do them while watching videos or playing other games. And my 22h total is not entirely accurate, it's probably around 50h at this moment.

Yeah, it does work pretty alright as a shield. I do prefer the full-screen AoE skills, tho, so the bat swarms etc are usually dead on arrival. I will keep picking garlic early on, still...It's just too good in terms of early game and conveniece.

i finished 10 runs now and never was NOT max level on everything in the last 3 minutes.
i also dont use any exp upgrades or boosts.

That achievement was added to steam 1 day after it was introduced in the game, so I got the achievement in-game, but not on Steam. You are also assuming that I have only one Steam account and 1 copy of the game.
I am usually Max level on everything before 20min mark. I don't really get your comment even, there is no real point to it, other than trying to brag with very mediocre statistics.

I even said twice in my last two comments, I use garlic very often, yet you still assume I don't use it, for some reason.

Also, about the time, I already explained it, same as the Garlic stuff - it probably took more time, would say some 14h in total, as the run time is never 30min, I don't know why your redundant comment exists on things I specifically had explained quite clearly.

maybe the 1/10/22 update no longer deleted items. But it definitely deleted items before the update. It's why i rage quit my build when my treasure chest was deleted.
