Only two disagreements I'd have with your list is I'd rank daggers higher. It's a bit of a pain to use at first but when you get used to it is really good from rank 1 all the way to 8 and evolved form pretty much means u will never be caught, nothing does more targetable dmg then this skill.
And lastly I'd rank lightning lower. It's 'just ok' at low ranks, then from mid game on does meaningless damage to mobs nowhere near you that you are probably moving away from anyway.
Whats your character ranking?
I think anything with + to proj is OP as hell.
It's definitely better in the indoor arena from what I can tell but I think its great! Hope the dev will make upgraded versions of more of the weapons!
I have two additions:
The clock lance is interesting in that it allows you to move through frozen targets. For example if you get surrounded by the plant circle and the lance freezes the plants, you can just walk out of the circle. If you have a good amount of cooldown reduction and/or duration it can even make you basically invulnerable as it fires again before the freeze runs out. That means you can always move through frozen enemies and theoretically never take damage.
The garlic is great in that it's constantly all around you. With a bit of aoe or levels it completely invalidates swarm enemies like the bats or ghosts. And while the individual damage is low it hits anything near you at a rapid pace. With some damage, aoe and cooldown improvements it can easily melt a way through all but the toughest enemies. And the hit stun it produces lets you avoid those better.
I think the Fire Wand needs a buff while not evolved as I always lose my run when I try to make it work. Either drastically reduce the cooldown or make the fireballs more effective like an AoE on impact.
I think the evolved Whip and Cross need to maintain the bonus to proj. count.
Wand vs Daggers : I'd value the Wand much higher than the Daggers. Neither are effective are killing stuff by the end but the Wand has the benefit to knockback much more effectively and let you walk freely. Wand + Bible combined and you never have to dodge a monster. Add in pickup radius and you're playing Lawn Mowing Sim.
I think the one stat that I find weird is the projectile speed : it's niche and only benefits Runetracer and Cross(not evolved) and Axe to a certain extent.
Speaking of Runetracer, it's godtier. It scales with all stats lol
And I think the dove might deserve an even lower ranking. Not only is it difficult to keep the enemy in the targeted area, the projectiles are hitting the area are also random and can't be aimed. So if they aren't firing on a tightly packed enemy group, they are going to miss a lot.
The Evolved Cross (Heavens Swords) are actually much better than the original Cross, when they start flying back, they start spinning around, so they mow down everything in a much larger radius, plus they have a longer reach than the Cross when they initially launch.
THE BONE. My goodness the bone, that was a fun run, I was in the Mad Forest with the skelbro, the bone is such a fun weapon to use, I'd honestly rank this in A tier. What it does is that it launches out like a magic wand attack, but when it hits an enemy it bounces and it can possibly hit another enemy before it disappears, when you get it to lvl 8 it stays longer, goes faster, gets bigger, and more comes out. I had the bible, couldn't get the evolved bible so it was the regular one. I literally ended up just not moving and the enemy surrounds me and the bone is just bouncing all over the place killing everything it touches. I couldn't tell how many bones were bouncing around, I had the duplicator too so I had so many bones. It definitely works the best when you're surrounded.
That said runetracer is amazing here. It won't win you the run on its own but it pretty much guarantees that you make it to your real setup.
The other option that has a bit of a slower start but works absurdly well later with the book is the bone. Actually bouncing inside a small ring is what this weapon is made for, so book+bone makes you completely untouchable for enemies because they just get knocked away.
Garlic is the definition of an early game weapon. It only exists to completely trivialize the first half of the game. You just stack garlic, candelabra and spinach and you are pretty much guaranteed to get to mid game with a strong set of support skills. Now the problem is if you are getting unlucky and don't get to pick these things you just wasted points (yes weapon points are less important but they're still wasted) on something that doesn't help you at all.
Axe is probably the worst weapon until you evolve it. There's just no point. It's somewhat random and you really don't want projectiles to travel upwards. The evolution is an excellent farming tool though the damage is spread too much for me personally.
Knife and magic wand serve the exact same purpose both early and late. That said, boss DPS is not important, so it's more about being able to walk straight into one direction to gather drops. I'd say the wand slightly edges out thanks to its evolution requirement which helps in the midgame and to enhance some later farming weapons.
The cross is great on paper but actually pretty mediocre in both versions. The problem here is that you want to clear in the direction of the closest enemy, not the opposing one. It also requires heavy investment to do enough.
Dove and dirty dove are actually better than it seems. The area damage they do later on is completely absurd, the real downside is that you kinda need both and they require some investment. More of a late choice to fill your weapon slots with stuff to farm better in the last minutes.
Whip is fine. Very good early game with the best first upgrade out of all weapons. Later on it's more of a knock back tool when you stack extra projectiles. The only problem is the horrendous evolution requirement.
Fire staff is okay if you have a way to clear mob groups further away. Scales super well with extra projectiles and the evolution requirement is superb. Important to note is that the evolved form actually gets worse if you have too many extra projectiles as you will shoot consecutively instead of in a fan. It's too slow to carry you on its own but is a nice and easy to pick up farming tool later on.
Lightning ring actually does pretty good damage in a big AoE especially when you add projectiles. It does require quite a bit of levels, cool down said projectiles to be worth it though. The targeting is also not that helpful. Probably does more than most people think but it's horrendous early on and generally other options are more attractive later on.
Water bottles are weird in that their potential damage is decent but they are so incredibly costly to get to work while being so unreliable that the only reason I even bother is because I tend to already have all the stats it scales with. Only reason to have these are for endgame farming when you maxed everything else already.
Pentagram. Imagine having something that clears the whole screen occasionally. The way you do that is you chose left or right. And then you walk left or right until a consumable drops that does that.
If for whatever reason that's not enough for you, you can of course pick this thing up which also does the same, just that you can't control the timing and gain 0 XP from it. What a deal. The absolute best way to throw a run and make farming endgame worse.
You have garlic as z tier... no, that's a b tier early, d- tier late because it's just useless after mid game. Pentagram actually damages your potential by slowing you down. and make it harder to endgame. I got it once... then after watching two bosses in a row just poof, I suicided to end the run because of this piece of crap.
All said, the game is too dependent upon the book evolve. I'm sure you can win without the book evolve, but everything else would have to be perfect.
Shout out to the Invuln weapon - that can come in handy in forest as well, even with the Bible, there are so many high HP enemies that you might need to use it to escape a tight spot.
Upgraded axe absolutely smashes, too, but it requires so much to actually get working you can't rely on it at all - it's strictly an end game thing and if you get it, you've probably already 'won' already.
