Anyway that being said, if you are struggling, chances are that you dont have enough DPS because you are using a wand or something ( single target ) or you havent evolve a weapon ( by 10 minutes mark, you can evolve a weapon. anything earlier doesnt make it evolve ) or you pick up defensive worthless perks like bracer / armor / hollow heart
remember that this game is 2 things. its a lot of mobs and DPS is king. You need crowd control so pick things like garlic, bible, santa water ( lightning is good but its not that good as a crowd control ).
Generally pick these items: Garlic, Santa Water, Bible. The rest is up to you. Generally dont pick pentagram since the first 3 lvls erased all exp and bosses which makes it harder to lvl up.
The perks MUST GET WITHOUT FAIL are Empty Tome, Duplicator. Its a no brain. Empty tome = faster cd = more hits. Duplicator = 2x more.
Some ppl will disagree with me regarding getting garlic and I agree with it but garlic is good for the earlier lvls for getting experience ( lvl 1-40 ). It really helps earlier on but later on, it falls off drastically. By then hopefully you get stronger items

I like garlic, but i dont seem to have an issue with library level infact my last run on it, ended with me being level 127 and having, Evolved bible, evolved Bird, Hellfire and evolved whip. but the first level, i cant seem to get anything evolved at 10. i think bible is almost necessary unless there's a hero with a better starter weapon.
Pick 3 or 4 weapons other than Lightning Ring, those are your build, remember what support items you need to evolve them.
Each weapon has a support item you need to evolve it, but you only need 1 of those support items and you need the base weapon fully upgraded. That means the first 10 minutes you should focus on getting 1 of each of the support weapons you need to upgrade the weapons you want to use. If they aren't an option, focus on getting another weapon in your build, or leveling up weapons. Focus on getting your weapons leveled before leveling your support items, that will keep your dps high so you can carve through waves.
There is one exception to the rule above, and that's Duplicator. Duplicator is the biggest DPS boost in the game and not getting it is going to inherently cut your dps. This is why I put 4 weapons as your build cause if you get a duplicator, it's the support item that levels the Lightning ring. And while Duplicator makes up for not being able to evolve the 5th weapon, it doesn't make up for the DPS of an evolved lightning ring.
If you should mess up and grab a support item that doesn't help evolve one of the weapons you've already picked, consider picking up either a Laurel, Clock Lancet, or Runetracer. Laurel is good to push through tanky enemies that try to block you like the circle of flowers on the first stage. Clock lancet is good for crowd control, however it's hard to aim and does no actual damage. Runetracer can do alot of damage, but it depends on the borders of your screen or terrain and bouncing to get more damage in on enemies.
If you're dying early, try to evolve the Garlic and the Whip, they take the empty heart container and Pummarola, the support items that up your max health and regen. And both of their evolved forms return health to you when they do damage.
Library is consider the easiest map because you arent getting attack from the north directions ( i.e north east,north west ) and south direction. You only primary focusing on east and west.
I stop using bible because I find it boring. To use it = more guarantee to win because like I said, crowd control is important which means AOE attacks are better.

I find that map 1&2 evolve timing is roughly 10 minutes - 12 minutes into the game. I dont know why there is inconsistency with it but yeah. If you want to play safe, go 12 minutes 30 seconds. By right it should work by then.
Map 3 however ( dairy plant ), I find <10 minutes its possible. Sometimes I lvl up at 7-8 minutes. Need someone that can read the codes of the game to confirm it.
My build is usually: Santa Water & Garlic. 2nd priority is bird, axe, bible, anything else. I rarely pick things like swords, cross, whips, fire wand ( single fire weapons ) with the exception of magic wand because it evolves with empty tome.
From weapon: Garlic, Santa Water, Lightning, Magic Wand, w/e, w/e.
Perks: Pummarola, Attract Orb, Duplicator, Empty Tomb, w/e, w/e.
Also if you didnt know, there was a patch that "fix"( no more RNG ) empty tome and perks in maps so if you are starting out library, its guaranteed that you will get empty tomb if you move left. This means you can add an additional perk if you want to. If you want this, you need to go to the dairy plant and get the map all the way South. Its worth it

Evolutions are no longer capped at after 10 mins. But they are now locked behind chests only. So if you get really, really lucky with a level 8 under 10 mins you can evolve it asap with a chest. Since chests now prioritize giving evolutions over random items if they qualify (lvl 8 + evo item).
if the original message is too long you can also delete parts of it in the quote, or even the whole thing.

A major factor for succeeding is figuring out combos between your passives and offensive items.
just play and try things out. its really not hard after you understand it.
If you haven't already try a run in the library with all the Mask of Greed Upgrades from the shop, then get a good build or at least get the 6 passives you want ASAP so you can pick up the Gold Mask passive as 6th or 7th item and abuse the fact that since library is so small you're constantly breaking candelabras everywhere for money pick ups. You can easily get 5k+ gold and also unlock the Priest character if you haven't since that's his unlock criteria.
Combo with Holy Water (La Borra), Garlic, Axe and Lightning Ring.
You'll want to get Holy water as late as possible, it's the best weapon in the game, but it's only good once it's evolved and when there are lots of enemies.
Garlic doesn't deal any real damage, it's just there to add pushback to enemies.
Bible deals decent damage and helps you level up early, and in combination with garlic it adds a little force field around you.
There are better builds, but you need to unlock the weapons and characters for those.

Evolved Lightning Ring. (Duplicator)
Evolved Axe (Candelabrador)
Evolved Garlic (Pummarola)
Evolved Santa Water (Attractororb)
If the duplicator is not available to you, get Spinach instead.
