You also get a specific reward from this, but I'm not sure the dev intended to have him killed this way - especially since if you don't do the level 2 trick, they have too much hp and more spawn, forcing you to lose regardless of your setup.

Immune to knockback, super fast, and he does 65k damage. He also gets 65k hp per your level. So at level 100 he has over 6 million.
He can be killed but requires very specific setups.
Laurel still works, it is temporary invulnerability. Clock lancet still freezes him.
And the big secret is get to minute 30 at very low level so he only has 130k hp.
one method uses clerici, she gets like 400% more aoe when under level 5. so if you get runetracer at level 2 the projectile is huge and gets stuck in the tables on library, so you can basically stand inside these giant projectiles and survive til 30, then once reaper spawns grab all your levels and hope for the right items to keep him frozen in a corner til he dies.
another method is porta who has 90% lower cooldown at level 1. becomes 60% at level 2. 30% at 1. so grab laurel at level 2 on library then keep walking left to grab 4 free cooldown books from the dark alcoves. 60% from the level 2 buff, 32% from the book at level 4, plus 5% from the meta power is 97% cooldown so level 5+ laurel cannot run out cause cooldown is less than duration, meaning true immortality. getting 4 books is very rare though, like a 1% chance that 4 will spawn early enough to be viable.
He also programmed the reaper to gain hp when you level up.
So it seems kinda obvious he expects you to make it to reaper at low level and made characters that get big buffs at low level to make it possible.
If it was a bug or exploit the developer would have just changed these characters to lose their buff at 10 minutes rather than making it on level up. But he has kept them like this for multiple patches without a single change.
Beyond being low level, it is just using laurel for invincibility, clock to freeze, and passives like cooldown and duration to make these effects longer. This is literally just how these items work. They work on every enemy in the game, just because they also work on reaper too doesn't somehow make it an exploit.
People have been trying for months and these are the only methods that work.
Go ahead and find some magic combo that can deal over 6 million damage while also not dying.
Here is some tips:
The reaper is immune to knockback, so you cannot push him away with books or axes or anything.
He deals 65 thousand damage. No armor, max hp, or healing will help.
He is insanely fast, no movement speed will outrun him.
Every 1 minute another one spawns, so you need to deal with him quickly otherwise you get covered by a bunch of them.
Good luck on finding some way that you don't think is cheating.

And it's not 6 million HP, it's 60 million. 655350 * Level is his HP, which is about 65 million if you completed the whole 30 minute run without sitting on a stuck runetracer projectile.
