Unlock the Reaper in <30 Seconds (if you're lazy)

if you honestly dont care about sitting still for 30 minutes only for it to not work and for you to do it again, or you're trying to edit like your health or smth and its not working, just do this, save yourself the effort.

1. Library > Vampire Survivors > Properties > Local Files > Browse > resources > app > webpack > renderer

2. open main.bundle.js with notepad (preferably notepad++)
NOTE: make sure you back up this file beforehand - just copy & paste it somewhere else *before* you edit it.

3. ctrl+f for Red Death and you'll find all the different properties/ stats of it along the same line

4. get rid of the exclamation mark ! next to where it says 'hidden'

5. save

After you have bought the character and played a bit, you can close the game and restore your old file if you want, the character should remain on your save and the file should be normal.

if for whatever reason there is an issue with buying the character, you can remove the ! next to 'isBought' on the same Red Death line as before
Alternatively, change the price also on the same line, to 0x1f4 - i'm not 100% sure how/ if this works, so only do it if you 'need' to.

NOTE: while you *can* fiddle with all the other numbers and things in this file, i dont recommend it unless you know what its going to do. At most, i'd say you can change the rarity of bone & cherry to 0x40 so that they can show up like any other weapon on any character.

no thats not normal loll
should be around 1.5k from what i've seen personally and in yt vids

you can also get rid of the ! next to 'isBought' if you wanna just skip that, or lower the price which to whatever (for reference, every other character has a price of 0x1f4, so just use that if setting it to 0x1 doesn't work)

If you're editing your game file, please note it on any topics later. Not everyone knows what they are doing. I'd recommend, if you do this, that you also play a game for a few seconds and quit. Then uninstall/reinstall or restore game file backup.

The character will still remain unlocked on your save, but you will now have the real game file again.

either there is a new "anti-cheat" detection going on or something is wrong with my game.

already reinstalled the game and deleted the exclamation mark just like i did the first time. Never modified the game files previously either and he still costs 1533334. editing the "bought" section or changing the price of him doesnt do anything

looks like i'll be waiting for an easier and legit way to unlock him

People could be editing all kinds of things following your instructions. The internet isn't limited to adults that have spent years looking at .txt files.

And your also telling people to edit in things that will change gameplay. Which IMO, could cause a lot of unintended consequences.

Any topic you post in about your gameplay in the future should be asterisked with the fact that you've altered the rarity of items.

on his defense the whole code was just one line for me

after i searched "red death" i just went further to the right instead of to the left

it did seem weird that it was just one continuous line of code. How could i have prevented this?

what exactly would be solvable by having a backup?
i did back it up the first time and after i i accidentally removed a different exclamation mark i restored the originald. Did the same thing again and again and then reinstalled the game because i thought i must have accidentally messed something up. Only to find out that i was removing the exclamation mark in the wrong place

Well, having a backup file in another folder is way quicker than accessing the files through Steam and asking it to check their integrity or reinstalling. With a backup file, if you mess the main one, you just delete it and replace it with the backup. It's just a convenient way to speed up the process in this specific case.

Like I did just now. I saw that there was a problem, got curious, modded the original file, saw the Red Death, thought "ooohhh, nice, a Poe and Vincent Price reference", then I played once with it to see how it was like, deleted the file and restored my original one.
