A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to try out the Blockremental demo, dig tunnels, fight off waves of golems… and share their feedback! Your comments have been incredibly helpful in refining the gameplay, squashing bugs, and improving the overall experience.

This first patch is a solid one: we’ve added content, rebalanced systems, optimized performance, improved the interface… and even tweaked the lighting, because seeing clearly while digging matters.

One big swing of the pickaxe later, and here are the changes!

• Wooden Construction CubeNow available from Layer 1. Smells like fresh forest!

• Cube Exchange System
  Trade in your old blocks for shiny new ones!

• Guide Improvements
  Info bubbles now appear right before your very eyes.

• Tooltips Added
  Hover over a craft with your mouse to learn more.

  For bases that look as tough as they are.

  Dig deeper than before (previously capped at 10).

• Anti-Clipping System
  No more falling into the void like a cursed pixel. You’ll now be teleported to a safe zone automatically!

• Defense MachinesDamage values adjusted. Yes, again.

• Breaker Machines
  Same deal. Still refining things with a chisel.

• Progression & Recipes
  Major overhaul: core gameplay reviewed from the ground up. Your feedback is welcome!

• Redesigned HUDMore visible slots, clearer selection, and an easier-to-read warning bar for incoming golem waves.

• Improved 7x7 Platform
  Now includes colored indicators for better clarity at a glance.

• Reward Interface Updated
  Clearer than ever: now you’ll know exactly what you’re gaining (or missing).

• Improved AIGolem movement and speed have been slightly reduced for better pacing.

• New Golem Waves
  The first wave now starts at Layer 4. The deeper you go, the tougher it gets: more health, speed, and damage.

• Enhanced Conductivity
  All iron and copper blocks are now conductive. Ugly cables are out, stylish and functional builds are in.

  Lights up the area like it's daytime.

🧱 Blockremental joins the Steam Neo Fest today with the release of its very first playable demo!

It’s an important milestone for us: you can now experience the game’s early mechanics, feel its pacing, its gameplay loop… and hopefully walk away with just as much curiosity as we had while developing it.

In Blockremental, you take control of a platform left behind by the goddess Mikia, capable of drilling through the many layers of a mysterious island.

Your mission: descend.

But this is no ordinary underground world. An ancient Dragon, sealed deep beneath the surface, has been watching for centuries… and now sends its golems to slow you down.

It’s up to you to build, automate, defend your base, and find a way to keep going, even as the pressure grows stronger with each new level.

Blockremental is a solo project developed by Benja, a member of the iolaCorp team. It’s powered by BoxelScape, our in-house plugin built to create large-scale, dynamic, cube-based worlds in Unreal Engine.

It also marks the first entry in Beldia, an original universe in the making — one that will eventually host multiple stories, games, and experiences.

This demo is your very first gateway.
