Boring Movies is Out Now!

Today is the day! Boring Movies is now live on Steam and can be played by anyone in the world.

Along with the excitement there has been a major change to lobbies.

Lobby hosts can now set how many rounds will be played.
Can now pick from Movie or Series (requires host owns the Boring Television DLC)
Filter Modes have been added; both Decade or Genres

I'm super excited for this change and would like to thank AROAH for the filter suggestion from the Steam Next Fest demo.

As well there was a number of minor bug fixes and some UI adjustments; the biggest being that you can now use Enter to submit movie search and guesses.

Thanks everyone for playing in the playtest, demo, and going forward!

NOTE: None of the DLC (Avatars & Boring Television) are currently available. They are currently going through Steam review and will be available shortly along with a Supporter Bundle to get them all at a discount.

Steam Next Fest is Live!

Today is the start of the big day! Steam Next Fest begins today and runs until October 21st. This means a brand new and improved version of Boring Movies is playable right now.

I'm also happy to announce that Boring Movies will officially launch on November 5th, 2024. As well I would like to just lightly cover some of the things I have planned for the 1.0 launch.

A more film thematic UI
Customizable lobby options
Some magic themed avatars
Downloadable OST

Welcome to the first public playtest weekend of Boring Movies!

We are gearing up for our upcoming release on Nov 5th, and we're thrilled to have you join us for this special event. During each playtest weekend, running from Friday 9 A.M. EST to Monday 9 A.M. EST, we will be focusing on improving different parts of the game and locating any bugs or edge cases that could affect gameplay. Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify and fix these issues, so please don't hesitate to report any bugs you encounter. Simply press the ESC key at any time to access an in-game bug submission form.

Some comments on the demo

While I think this has some potential as a party game, especially with the plan being to make it free, there are some problems my friends and I encountered as well as some suggestions we have. The UI is a bit buggy. I think the players' screens are not synchronizing at quite the same time, making it so some players will see the guess screen before others.
