Split-Screen is an absolute joke... ://
So I just watched the new Gameplay Showcase: https://youtu.be/yW0NyXB62Vs?si=-L3GZbGZNXP7yRaM

And honestly everything looks sick as hell so far, I genuinely have no complaints what so ever. Except for the split screen implementation. To explain how it works, only one player can select a character at a time & you can only play on one stage. That being the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
This stung to hear, because I'm a big local / split-screen player of FighterZ, Xeno2 and hell practically all DBZ games.. Now this isn't a dealbreaker for me.. However it would've been the icing on top of the cake, ya know? By the looks of it, they've implemented Split-Screen really late into the games development, even Jun Furutani the director stated "after careful consideration" - meaning they probably saw the out roar of people complaining about it earlier in the year. That and he explained it was meant to be a Singleplayer / Online experience.

Didn't realise Tekken 8 was UE5, if that's the case it's one of the rare examples of a well optimised UE5 game. But comparing the two leads no where, 2D & 3D fighters are a whole diff ball park.

Yeah I explained that awfully, was just saying optimisation is vastly different between the two different kinds of fighting games. Still UE5 has been out for a while and should be better optimised these days, I just find that 90% of UE5 games run like poop,

In a video they released, they said that they developed the game with it only being rendered once in mind (so single-player and online multiplayer), this allowed them to go all out with the effects like destruction and particles and other stuff. They didn't even plan on adding split-screen until they heard fan outcry, but had to limit it to the HTC since that stage has a lot less going on and so it can be rendered twice without the performance drop. If they begin to add more maps to splitscreen, expect less destruction and the game looking slightly worse to compensate.

That much I knew, and it's a shame really that they originally developed the game with mainly single player viewports in mind, but I greatly appreciate the fact that they have been so open about all of it. Hopefully they can manage a way to implement it post launch or alternatively modders can make it work on PC.
