I finished this game in just a few hours, and in my opinion if I can finish a game in 6.5 hours and it still had this strong of an emotional effect on me you've done a fantastic job! I cried multiple times while playing, these characters are very sweet and lovable. I think the game is extremely worth it, and if you like games like Mother 3 and Undertale you would be missing out if you didn't give this one a try as well!

My favorite part is when the monster says, "Shut up, Meg!"

This game ripped my fu*king soul out of my body. It filled that Undertale-sized hole in my heart and left me yearning for more. It's like the most creative escort mission I've ever seen. Plus the art style and concept is to die for. Just such a great game, it’s an emotional roller coaster and just such a beautiful story that made me feel more than any book, movie or game I've experienced this year, I absolutely loved it. Story is awesome. Don't be ashamed to cry, it's totally fine.

Meg’s Monster is a very touching game that at its most basic tells the common story of a very lonesome and closed-off person slowly becoming more relaxed as he meets another bubbly and affectionate person.

It takes about four or five hours to finish completely, so it’s not a huge time commitment. The RPG elements are very light. Battles are turn-based affairs, but you don’t have a lot of tactical options so the route to victory is usually fairly clear. There are no random encounters, and every battle you fight is one dictated by the story’s needs. The combat is more like a puzzle than actual rpg. There's no grinding and if you die you can just retry, no game over backtracking. The battles are usually an extension of the story rather than a
"chore" to earn more story.

You will level up after certain battles, giving you a couple of stat boosts and an upgrade your HP. There’s no gear to collect, treasures to loot, or grinding to be done. There are several small locations you’ll visit at least a few times each, and a few overworld maps that stitch them all together. There are four or five sub-quests to complete, but otherwise you’re just playing through the main story.

It’s a fantastic narrative experience. While it’s not the most mechanically rich RPG around, it’s not really trying to be. It’s here to tell a story, and it does so wonderfully. The characters are memorable, the plot is engaging, the presentation is sublime, and it’s on the whole just a hard thing to dislike at all. I haven’t been on an emotional roller coaster like this one in a while, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a touching story to play or the urge to cry like a b*tch.

I would love for there to be a sequel but I know that it would undermine the games message and the ending so l am just going to sit here and enjoy my bittersweet candy.

Thank you for this wonderful story, its been awhile, that a game gave me tears

From the moment I played the demo, Meg's Monster captivated me. Now that I've played the full game, I can safely say it soared beyond all expectations I had. This game follows the story of a lost little girl, and the 2 monsters who are trying to return her home. A pretty simple concept, even the game itself acknowledges this, but what they do with it is amazing. The story has equal amounts heart, humour, and drama. I could not predict what was going to happen next, and it kept me engaged until the end.

This game has a heavy focus on story and the few moments of deviation from the linear path is mostly areas you can revisit for additional lore. You will not be grinding at all, there are no default enemies, and the stats you need are all achieved through story battles. Most of the battles have gimmicks such as minigames to avoid damage or objects that can be interacted with. Paying attention to these as well as enemy dialog is the key to success here, and thus there's more of an emphasis put on strategy than brute force.

Everything about this game is just perfectly artistic. The characters are carefully constructed, even Meg herself isn't just a two-dimensional "little kid" character but genuinely shows a lot of bravery and courage. Roy is a tough as nails badass who feels himself changing throughout the course of the story, and Golan is so much more than the "goofy friend" as it's blatantly obvious that he knows a lot more than he lets on. Even the NPCs such as the monster council, Paul, and Joey are all oozing with personality and the exceptional pixel art and music compliments the unique style of this game well.

I cannot recommend this game enough. It is an unforgettable experience you won't want to miss out on.

Prepare a box of tissue before you get going. You'll need it.

Got this on a slight discount, but after playing it, I felt bad getting it on discount. For real.

The tagline of the game is "If she cries, the whole world dies," but the one left crying is me.
There's a lot I could say about Meg's Monster, but nothing I say could actually compare to how this game made me feel.
I can't even bring myself to close the game yet, so I'm just letting it sit on the final screen. I don't know what makes me want to cry more; the story itself, or having to say goodbye to it.
I love the characters. I love the music. I love the story.
I love this game.

Please play Meg's Monster. I'm glad I did.

Not only did this game make me tear up, it forced me to get a second t-shirt to cry into. The pacifist ending in Undertale made me cry, but this is the first game where I didn't see the credits because I was busy crying my eyes out into my t-shirt.

I hope this gonna gets popular like Undertale!

What a delight! A fairly short but very sweet RPG that allows its mechanics to carry its narrative in some very effective ways. Combined with a localisation that nails the landing 90% of the time (there sure are some lines doing some very heavy lifting when it comes to exposition) I enjoyed the whole thing.

A heartwarming story, I cried. Twice. It'll feel good.

Keep in mind two things if you come to play this game. First is that this is more of a visual novel than an RPG. I wouldn't call the combat system shallow, in that it's not a button masher and you will have to think. but don't expect deep combat. Approach each fight like a puzzle.

The second thing is the story gets... I wouldn't say convoluted. But it does get a little dense, the same way a peanut butter is packed with calories; you might not realize how filling it is if you're not paying attention. The last 3rd of the story gets pretty bizarre to follow, and may require to suspend some disbelief. You'll have to take the game's word that sometimes there's a little magic that just goes unexplained in the world.
