The Night Walkers: Alpha to Beta Transition!

Dear Players,

It’s been a while since our last update, and we’re thrilled to bring you some exciting news. We at Horrora Studio are ecstatic to announce that The Night Walkers has officially moved from the Alpha phase to Beta! While the game is not yet for sale, we’re launching a Playtest that will run for one month.

To help us make The Night Walkers even better, we encourage you to participate in our survey[www.surveymonkey.com]. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and you can fill it out whenever you feel like it during the Playtest period.

Additionally, we would like to inform you that the Alpha version of the game is still accessible through a Beta Branch. This means you can switch between the Alpha and Beta versions to compare the changes and improvements. Here’s how you can access the Alpha version:
- Right-click on The Night Walkers in your Steam library and select Properties.
- Navigate to the Betas tab.
- Select “alpha” from the dropdown menu.

Now, let’s dive into the details about what’s new and improved in our Beta version:

Bug Fixes
- (Too) Many collision fixes
- Adjusted the character raycast points for night walkers
- Animations not triggering properly when key pressed after Walk-Run motions
- Pickup action UI indications being over the Letter UI
- Church collision bugs fixed
- Frenzy night walkers speed does not reset to 1 anymore
- Removed an invisible car
- Fixed character still animates while in pause/read letter
- Fixed sneak mode to activate faster and have higher priority
- Fixed walking in sneak mode while aiming
- Night walkers polishing (sound, animations, codes)
- Fixed terror audio being played even if there were no enemies around
- Fixed audio listener being on the camera instead of the player
- Fixed items being lootable from distance
- Fixed a bunch of bugs during development process

Changes
- Upgraded Unity version from 5.6 to 2022
- Changed characters’ names to fit better with the Lovecraftian theme
- Vehicles are bigger
- Increased fear rate
- Church has been rotated 180 degrees to face the Town
- Removed gold section and moved it to inventory UI
- Medical Kit recipe has been changed
- Changed shadow people look
- Crafting UI opens up with Inventory
- Using inventory now freezes time
- Inventory has less slots
- Shadow People now raise fear
- Night walkers are harder to kill (unless headshot)
- Crouch Idle animation has been changed
- Graveyard and Church revamped
- Higher thunder sound volume
- Changes to all item icons
- Removed weight variables on items and descriptions
- Currency is now called Pact Marks and fits with the game lore
- Changed the trader person to a mysterious place called The Forbidden Altar
- Changed the first person mode toggle to add transparency material to character rather than disabling renderers, to allow flashlight movements from bones
- Playing trumpet sounds when going insane rather than a generic sound

Additions
- Added More map design (props, blood stains, corpses, particles, fog, nature details, etc.)
- The Town is a very detailed map; every detail is manually placed.
- Added Fear slider: Even though the game is meant to be played without UI, a fear slider has been added for clarity on your character’s state.
- Added Bloom/lens flare/Moonshafts effect to the camera
- Added Wildlife: Crows, rats around trash and dead bodies.
- Added Reticle when aiming
- Added Bullet Projectile and Shotgun Wide Spread Bullets
- Added Stamina system
- Added Zone Notifications system
- Added Item name tooltip and Item Glow FX for better clarity when looting
- Added New recipe item: Vigor Elixir
- Added Benzodiazepine item to regain sanity
- Added Shadow People & Dimension Swapping/Insane Mode

Dear gamers!

First of all, thanks to everyone who has been patient enough to test the first 'playable' build!
It was my first step toward releasing anything about the game.
Its been about a year since I published it. Of course, it was full of bugs and felt unfinished.
But anyway, It is such an amazing feeling to be able to share with gamers of all around the world.

I have been working on it from time to time, and managed to build a more stable gameplay overall.
I believe the game still needs a lot of work though, but it's always fun to share with you guys the new stuffs i've been added/tweaked/changed since then!

Things are getting serious here, and also more on the storyline to discover.
The playtest will close and reopene with a new update to come!
Let's call it the alpha 2 for now.
The second playtest shall remain open for an unknown limited time though.
More about that later.
