You can make some quick and easy money by luring pirates, or other attacking nations into a friendly fort and board the ship ones theyre low on crew.
You can also go around houses and loot chests, watch out you dont get caught though
.from start out you want to go to the shipwright take all the cannon off your ship then sell to the shipwright by doing this you are loosing a mass amount of weight . after head to the store sell ALL ammo cannon balls chain shot etc. also giving coin and loosing ship weight . by now your starting ship should have like 40 weight out of 500 dead weight also sell all weapons gunpowder . NOW , (SAVE GAME) After speak once again to the store owner choose the second line asking for jobs with your ship . TRICK HERE . when speaking to him and he gives you a job if its far away the job that is ...this is where the save comes in . you can keep reloading that save and ask the store owner for the job and the job will CHANGE giving you a closer haul and for more money . Keep hauling back and forth for the Different store owners till you can purchase a rank 5 ship with 1k weight . Once you have done so rinse repeat however you will notice because you have more room in your hold they will offer better contracts .Do this till you can get into a rank 4 once you have done so this is where the game blows up .Once you have purchased a rank 4 ship with at least I thank its 1500 dead weight head to the HARBOR MASTER . once there ask him from the first line for a job using your ship . and here comes the money rollin in those jobs will be giving triple of what the store owners give you and there is a catch. just keep doing those rinse repeat upgrade ship tears for better contracts within 3 or 4 hours you will be in a rank 3 ship with 4500 dead weight making 90 to 100k a run . just be mindful ( THIS IS THE CATCH) when you take the quest from the harbor master your ship is worth a TON so ever pirate and who ever your faction is at war with will be out to get you . SAVE SAVE SAVE ALL THE TIME . I hope this helps . ive only been playing a few hours and im in a rank 3 right now . Cheers
.Tortuga has not only one of the biggest fortresses in game however its also protected by 4 battle ships one being a first rate 50 canon a side .So you see where im going right . take your ship and park it next to that first rate let the ships and the fortress knock down your enemy's crew thin board . Remember before hand to save this way no matter what you can load over and over till you end up with a first rate enemy ship to board and take over ....CHEERS
PS the money is for after your going to need it
Thats how i made my first 100k wihout trading.
I get mine from the small pirate townships like Le Francois on Martinique.
I hope it isn't leadership because I have 5.
I have stayed the night in taverns and had new customers in there the next morning to choose from. You might just be unlucky and need to keep trying.
Buy bottles of rum from the street vendors in town and sell them to the lighthouse keeper. The npcs that live in lighthouses buy bottles of rum for a very marked up price.
Check if the lighthouse keeper has discount goods for sale. For instance in game one just sold me 87 sugar for 1.7k and then I sold it in town for 9k.
See if the priest in the town's church is panicking about being robbed. This is a mission where you go out into the jungle and fight the robber and the you loot the robber then you bring the money back and you get a cut of it. Be ready for fighting on foot.
The shipyard npc might have a mission for you to find his stolen tool. Ask characters walking around town. Then find the beggar that stole it. Then find it in the jungle.
See if there's a native wandering around outside the town in the jungle who has pearls/silver/gold for sale. Buy them then sell them at the usurer in town.
Look for washed up treasure chests on beaches. Sometimes when you visit a beach there will be a chest filled with valuable loot.
