poor optimization? or poor... me :/
R5 1600/ 1050ti 4gb/ 8gb ram was the game's minumum requirement

my system
R5 3600/ 1060 3gb/ 16gb ram with game on NVME SSD

i know my system is not great, but im pretty sure i met the game's minimum requirement.
Then why my game cant hold 60fps always? especially in floor/wall breaking stage where it will 100% happen. light dip to 55ish, to absolutely unplayable slomo at 20-30fps

upon 1st launch i got like 178 performance score, whatever that means, and auto set my graphics options to full low 50 scaling at 1080p. and boy the fps will dip hard on floor/wall breaking stages, which means if im not playing at the Colosseum or the yakushima stage the game will dip fps, especially the palace stage

im no stranger to tweeking settings to meet a stable framerate while trying my best maintaining any visual there is left. lower scaling, full low ofcourse, lower game resolution, tweeking local settings file in appdata,... i tried every kind of optimazation i can think of and the game just cant hold a stable 60fps.

FPS drop happens ALWAYS
- at character select when loading the char models
- at round start, light dip to 55, sometimes just a few seconds in, sometimes up to 20 seconds of 1st round
- at floor bounce/ wall breaking stages, game 1 at the palace stage will 100% drop frames when you break the glass wall and the balcony, along with dojo, farm, ...

i notice from my performance overlay (nvidia), whenever these frame drop happens, the gpu usage spike to 100% while cpu usage remain very low, and it stay that way through out multiple setting combination i tried, high rez/ low graphics/ high scaling, to low rez/ med graphics/ low scaling. even at the absolute minimum the game offer at full low graphics, TAAU upscaling (which seems to be most optimal), and 720p and the frame dropping/ gpu spike issues still persist

and sadly, i wont be able to upgrade my pc for quite sometime.

so i just wanna know, is there something i could have done to make it run well, or is it the game and i just have to live with it?

for comparison, my system can run mk1 full low 720p and maintain 60fps always, sf6 stable 60 with some option at high/ medium

so i just boot up the game few minutes ago to show my friend a combo. this is my current settings. and not even the 'infinite' stage can save me from gpu spiking. game crash shortly after with that 'device hung' error xD

i have 2060 super i7 7700 16 gb ram and game on ssd. I have slow motion for the first 10-30 sec(depends of map) in EVERY match.Even on lowest settings. Some shader compilation in the background it seems. So yeah something wrong with optimization

I'm kinda in the same boat as you but the game runs well enough with drops to like 57 fps only for a second. I use Process Lasso to permanently keep CPU priority above normal and it made quite a difference for me. The only issue i have is the dreaded fatal error that so many users are getting too. It occurs at random times, sometimes i can play 3-4 hrs without issues and sometimes it crashes just after 20 min. I heard using the bicubic upscaler causes the crashes to be way less frequent which i haven't tried yet. Really hope they have a fix for that in the upcoming update.

GTX 1060 6 GB, i5-7400, 16 GB RAM, installed on SSD
TAAU, 60 Render Scale, Everything Medium except effects

There are a good amount of potato stage mods out now that could help you with performance, might be worth a try. I downloaded a semi potato mod for Arena and Midnight Siege and it helped me out since i'd get slight frame drops on any settings on those 2 stages. Now it's super smooth.

The only other thing you can try is to change to TSR upscaling and reduce the scaling even further down to like 60%. You may see just two single pixels fighting but hopefully at 60fps.

upon further testing and investigate, i now know the problem is def cause of the stages, floor/ wall breaking stages specifically.

shout out to the potato stage mod, you can find the mod on google quickly.

the mod includes all none wall/ floor breaking stages and keep the absolute minimum of those stages.

when wall/ floor break happens:
1. render latency goes from 15.6ms usually to 30ms+
2. gpu usage spike to 99%, if it holds at 100% for like 10 seconds game will crash with that "device hung" error
3. gpu clock also spike, tho im not too sure if its a bad thing in this case?
4. gpu power usage from 45ish to 80ish

this behavior is consistent through out all wall/ floor breaking cutscene and the next 10ish seconds of the round

after wall break happens, cpu/gpu would take time loading the extended stage is what i assume happening in background, causing major fps dip. and after its done loading the extended part, the numbers go back to normal

and very rare occasion, fps would dip upon successful heat engager

the potato modded stages without wall/ floor break, all of them run smoothly with stable numbers, no spiking to be seen any where. it would dip to 57 at worst and very much playable

so thats all my findings after 3 days just fking around with the game's graphics options and optimizations. i hope this post has the info some people might need on the fps dropping problems

Not just you brother. Tons of people are way BEYOND the recommended specs and still getting crashes
Rusty 20 fev. 2024 às 1:13
Publisher is lying about its required specs. Just wait another week or two, the system requirements are going to change.

gameplay video, fps never dips below 58 while recording btw

with settings
https://ibb.co/NKFxWGQ
https://ibb.co/JjXLLGM

as for the numbers, i tested the game at 720p and 50% scaling thinking it would help, but nah, it uses less resources sure, but when floor/wall break it 100% will spike and dip fps.
put the game at 1080p 70 scaling, clock speed maintain 1800+ in game no spiking, power usage 75-90 watts stable, and generally just a good stable experience at 60fps

and to be honest it looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing for my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pc xD

Buy a cheap rx6600 or 7600 if you have an b550 Board. Your CPU should be fine
C1REX 20 fev. 2024 às 1:37
On a side note - there seems to be some bug witch chrome or YouTube that can kill performance in some games.

No sure if it always happens but I had a problem yesterday and closing chrome instantly fixed it.

I also have a GTX1060 3GB GPU, 8GB of ram and core i5 2400 CPU. The game runs pretty decently at 60fps on all low settings, but the frame drops are still there. It's a problem of poor game optimization, because even high-end computers are having the same problem.

I can undervolt or downgrade the Power as much as possible and my 3060ti even then only uses 40% of its Power. My CPU never going over 15% most Times 10%

I use an amd ryzen 5 7600 and 32gb ram mit amd expo. I think my Mainboard is superior :steamhappy:

But what i noticed no matter what i Do with my ingame settings i am Hard locked 59fps i dont understand why and dont know if that Has an impact for enemys. I tried to Hard lock with nvidia panel but Nothing works out.

I dont feel the 1fps in any war btw.
