Find a character that you love and that is the starting point.

Steve is a difficult character but it shouldn’t matter at the beginning.
You can also try different characters.

Steve Fox is one of the hardest and most unique characters in the roster.
That being said, he is the first character I've played as well.
It takes some time, if you really want to play Steve then watch guides and combo tutorials.

It's a bit limited me thinks.

But turns out the problem is I'm playing like my opponents were good, when in fact they can be beaten by spamming jab, and then grab once they finally decide to block.
