This game is massive disappointment

The only good thing about this game is combat. Everything else is either terrible or mediocre.
Plot is extremely boring and predictable. All cutscenes are just monotonous still dialogues between characters. No jokes. Zero humor or charm. Just robotic infodumps one after another for 25+ hours.
All characters are lifeless dolls. They look cute but that's about it. Nothing interesting about them. For every character there are exactly TWO animations that recycled over and over. Midas will tip his hat in every dialogue that he is in.
All maps in the game are just either empty cities or empty fields. There is nothing to do here besides grinding mobs. Combat is good but WAY too easy. 95% of the time you will kill foes in under a minute.
I love Star Ocean series but this game is just final nail in the coffin. I don't really know which game is worse - this one or 5. Tri-Ace is done. They lost all their talented scriptwriters. They just a hollow shell of a company at this point.

You mean the second worst game in the series? With absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ characters, a really dumb main protagonist who is SURPRISED that stupid ♥♥♥♥ happens when he does stupid ♥♥♥♥? Combat that revolves around HP sponges being the difficulty and therefore no real interactivity in the gameplay?

I know there is this thing called "personal taste" and "personal opinion"
But I find Last Hope so terrible especially plotwise and characterwise that if not for the salvageable gameplay I'd put it as worst action JRPG in existence. Yes. Below 5.

They are the same as the main plot - lifeless and devoid of fun. Just talking heads standing still and reading lines with zero passion.

I mean even Welch is a hollow shell. She just stand in one room and have exactly ONE animation with a pointer in all dialogues. All her dialogues are dull and repetitious. Zero effort went toward this character.

Got to say that I am finding this game to be a bit of a letdown. It looks dated with large empty levels with a poor draw distance and PS3/Xbox 360 era visuals and the gameplay and story aren't gripping me either. It all feels very familiar and, sadly, very mediocre so far.

The nail in the coffin though is the terrible, terrible companion A.I. which makes boss battles a real chore to play when I have to constantly babysit the other characters. It has pretty much killed off any urge for me to continue playing actually...

Funny that almost everytime I see this kind of comment, I look at playtime and the person hasn't even made it through 1/4th of the game.

Played all Star Oceans except 5, played the hell out of 2, 3 and 4, and this one is definitely a worthwhile entry. Not the best, far from the worst. This comes from someone who actually finished it, lol.

Funny that almost everytime I see this kind of comment, I look at playtime and the person hasn't even made it through 1/4th of the game.

I can't even spoil SO6 plot because there is nothing to spoil. What exactly will kick in later? The combat will be the same throughout the whole game - you just spam Raymonds one basic crush move and Marielle firework skill. Everything else is not effective.

Nothing will change later in the game.

I beat my way through SO4 playing Reimi spamming the first skill you get, and I'm including absolutely all the post game content in there. It's one of the most efficient ways to play the game. Playing any melee character in 4 puts your bonus gauge at risk.

You sure SO4 is better than this ?

What fireworks skill are you talking about ? You even played this or you just watched some commentary from a youtube video ?
