- SO3 had unlockable "customes", which were color variations of existing 3D models. No "H", as far as I remember
- SO4 had some Edge/Reimi H-like scenes, like Edge stumbling into the bathroom while Reimi's taking shower (twice)... Fun, but not H.
If you want fan service, play Senran Kagura.
What is this "H" here you keep talking about?
Thanks for the info with the SO4 shower scenes. That's kind of the stuff I'm talking about. Scenes that certain kinds of people would call "cringe" or whatever other words they use these days.
I should probably clarify more of what I'm looking for here. Since I suppose the word "Healthy" can be taken in different ways.
I'm not looking for something like Senran Kagura, which would be Ecchi. Senran Kagura games are far beyond what is a healthy amount of fanservice for a JRPG. Not saying I don't like SK, because I have Estival Versus installed on my machine right now, but that's not what I'm looking for, or expecting here with most JRPGs. Senran Kagura is dead anyways (thanks Sony).
So to get more specific on what I'm looking for it would be attractive / cute / sexy female characters. Preferably characters that are party members that you can play with. However, enemies and other NPCs are good also.
I like revealing outfits on the characters. Doesn't necessarily need super skimpy or anything, but I like to see some skin and cleavage on their outfit designs. Having bonus costumes or outfits that are purely cosmetic that you can unlock is important. Be it from in-game unlockables or paid DLC. Swimsuits are always a big selling point.
This game already appears to check some of my boxes with characters like Elena, but the additional outfits is the concern. That kind of stuff really adds a lot of enjoyment to the game for me, and adds replayability.
That will probably decide whether I pre-order this game or not. If I can get Elena in a bikini then sign me up, but if not then it's not as easy of a sale for me. Especially when you consider it's releasing in that Fall - Holiday window when there's lots of games all competing for your money. There's also a little game that lots of PC gamers have been waiting for called 'Persona 5 Royal' that is releasing on Steam the week before, which does have a ton of costumes and bikini / swimsuits.
It depends on what you understand and want as fan service.
If it's visual customization, the Star Ocean series never included much, so I won't expect SO6 to do so either. If that is imortant for you, I recommend to wait and check the footage once the game is released.
From what I remember, only SO4 had this (didn't play SO5).
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't think "H" would mean Ecchi.
It's disappointing to hear that Star Ocean has never had much in the way of visual customization / costumes. Like I said, costumes are always a huge selling point for me, especially swimsuits.
I like pre-ordering games to support them on release, so what I'll probably do is pre-order and if the game looks like it's very lacking in certain areas I will just refund before my two-week window closes.
I doubt I'll even be ready to start this game when it releases since we have the Atlus title releasing the week before here on Steam. So that works out for me nicely here.
2 had sexy mage girl Celine
3 ...I don't remember much about 3
4 had Myuria with some serious tit jiggle physics
5 didn't play 5 but I remember seeing some witch girl in a skimpy outfit
6 looks like it is getting a busty blonde and some pink-haired demon queen looking character in skimpy outfit.
Combat saves the game anyways, story is usually crap, sound effects missing, plot twists............... lol
It's funny though they said the last game was supposed to be the last game in the franchise and here we go. I'm getting this to see what bonkers adventure we get to go on this time, hopefully no whiny man-child leader, or SO3 plot twist, but if they didn't add it, it wouldn't be a SO game. Hype
Thanks, terry309. Appreciate that bit of information. I guess we can only hope that maybe we'll see a return of additional costumes in Star Ocean: The Divine Force.
