Demo / Benchmark?
I am a BIG fan of the Star Ocean series, and was looking at this latest entry... but the game specs lead me to pause. It LOOKS like I meet the minspec requirements, but nothing beats a practical test.

Does the game offer a benchmark utility to measure performance? A playable demo would also work, as long as it includes similar action to a benchmark.

The game doesn't have a benchmark. The best you can do it rush through the prologue bit and make it to the first and second towns to see how performance is before your 2 hour refund time is up.

Hmmm....

One question I have: The minspec calls for an Intel Core i7-7700. (3.6Ghz x 4)
I have an i5-8400 (2.8Ghz x 6)

Would more cores make up for the difference in processor speed?

It really depends on the software you are running, I have a hunch that it will work fine but no way to tell until you buy it and try. Refund if it don't work for you.

JD is correct.

It may not be optimized past a certain amount of cores, or it could have an important function that is single-threaded and suffers because of it.

Good luck. I see you purchased it, hopefully it runs well for you.

I am compiling the shaders now... Thankfully that's part of FTS and not the runtime.

I fully expect 20 FPS in menus and +25 degrees room temperature... I hope not.
