Missing Sound Effects?
Anyone else have this issue? I started noticing it after finding the pod in the ruins. Ray punches it and it makes no noise. Then he plops down the heavy metal object, also no noise. It falls over, no noise. Then during the following boss fight, the golem stomps around looks like it should be making tons of sound. But its just eerily quiet.

Is it designed this way or are my sounds glitched?

Here is a 2hr 30min stream of the start of the game

go to the same points in the stream and see if the sound matches what your version was having:

^ Yup. Those cutscenes had the sound effects I was missing. Voices, music and everything else was fine but none of the sound effects played when I saw that scene.

I play with JP voices, so it could be an issue with that. Or the PC port. or something else entirely. Its hard to pin it down since that was an Xbox version with EN voices. I'll have to try and find a matching version for me to check.

try verifying your files first and move from there

Someone else made a topic about missing audio as well. So it looks like some PC players are experiencing audio issues across the board. I guess we'll just have to pray for a patch from the Devs or the community in the near future.
My sfx were fine and I've been playing in Japanese. Might want to verify the files or something

Meh, no voice... No matter what I do. Verifying doesn't help, Files are 100% correct.

Did anyone find a fix?

Start with the usual

update audio codecs / updates on computer / sound card etc

try with latest graphics card drivers, rollback to previous if at new ones

change in-game language to see if that is the cause of the issue

If you have headphones plugged in, try taking them out and restarting on speakers, vice versa

try to isolate and see if you can locate what is causing the issue

Gfx card has nothing to do with audio, language switching and others already tested.

I found a not welcome solution. If you have a 5.1 / 7.1 system, you have to revert it
down to 2.0 stereo... They should fix it for the game... Seriously!

It may not support 5.1 or 7.1 channels which wouldn't be a glitch, just unfortunately unsupported. If you ever see this in another game where audio comes muted at some angles or extremely muffled I recommend downgrading one audio step at a time in case it supports something other than stereo (ex 7.1 issues? > try 5.1 and if still no go > stereo).

Just so you know for other titles in future. Many games do support above stereo now days, but not always. I haven't tested this game above stereo to see if it supports 5.1/7.1 but if it supported it at other points (assuming you weren't lucky with the directions the sound game from coincidentally and thus didn't notice earlier) and then stopped working properly than you would certainly have a bug if it suddenly stopped working.

Glad you found out how to fix it!
