When are the new releases usually announced?
Hi!

Been thinking for a while now to get a steam license of Substance, however with how things work now with the updates, I feel like I should probably wait for the next one.
With all the rumours about substance leaving steam however, I want to make sure I get it before they remove it from the store, even if I'll just get the 2022 release.

With that said, I'm wondering when the new releases usually are announced for Steam and when you can get it?

Why assume Adobe had other versions up before? I'm not sure myself mind you, but when I use Google to search Steam for the Adobe products then I can't find much before 2021, which is also the release date.

I wouldn't assume anything here, but for what's it worth... I'm also a rather dedicated Photoshop Elements user which I bought (and later upgraded) through the Adobe website itself. Last year they announced the next version around October.

The thing about the Adobe software I've been using though... my first Photoshop Elements was bought on the Microsoft Windows store and I still own that license. Not sure if Adobe allowed me to upgrade with a discount (I believe they did but it's been a while ago..) but my point being: I stil have that version installed on an older laptop. AH, now I remember: no upgrade discount, but I grabbed the full Elements 'suite' (with Premiere & Photoshop) on their own website.

I'm still using that older "Microsoft store version" to this very same day on my laptop, despite me seriously preferring Elements 2022. It works, I get work done, it's even decently compatible... not to mention that new doesn't always equal better.

I know I may sound like a sales drone right now (sorry!), but if you are interested then I'd go for it. For all we know this was just an experiment for Adobe (kudo's for having an active developer roam this place though!) and they may close shop at the end of this year...

But even if you do buy 2022 and next year they release 2023? Doesn't make 2022 suddenly obsolete! Or imply that 2023 will be automagically better....

Hope this could give you some ideas.... Context: I just discovered Painter & Designer to be available on Steam, gave it some hard thoughts... my mouse icon is the result ;)

Well I have the latest at the moment from work, but I am thinking of getting one for personal use, so I can sell my own stuff. And yes while the 2022 version would do, but as I don't have any rush to get it, I thought I could wait for the 2023 release so I'll get all those updates :)

Gotcha, makes sense. We'll, it's everyone's guess of course, but if they haven't announced anything new around October / November then I wouldn't bet on a new release. For whatever that's worth of course 😉

I can't help wonder how this might be involved, notice the dates and all? This is pure speculation on my end mind you!

Ah, that's a great observation! I hadn't really thought about what that could potentially mean. I've decided now that I could just get it now. It's so cheap anyway and if they would continue to release them on steam and I wanted an update I could just get a new edition in a couple of years :)

New yearly releases are typically announced around November/December.
