So this game becomes CPU bound when raytracing is enabled?
4090 + 7800X3D. 50% GPU usage with raytracing and 99% when turned off. Spectacular. Assuming no one knows a fix?

Ray tracing is cpu intensive as well, Dont think it needs a fix. I got the same cpu as you. A reason why it could be getting cpu bound, is because youre in a town or a dense area that is going to use more CPU power. I have a 4070 and I still get near 100% gpu usage with ray tracing on, in towns and out of towns. I keep it off though, cuz the frames drop a little too much for my liking in dense areas with ray tracing on. I play at 1440p.

But yeah, this doesnt really need a fix. Same thing happens in cyberpunk for me kinda. with a 4070 and 7800X3D, I get cpu bound with ray tracing on.

games way more cpu intensive now days, and things like raytracing add onto it. If its cpu bound, that means your cpu is the bottle neck, and the only way to really fix it is usually by upgrading your cpu lol. 7800X3D might be "the best gaming cpu" but there are a few others that are better over all even for gaming.
Im not super uber versed in GPU/CPU tech, I know enough though and im fairly certain this isnt really an issue that needs actual fixing.

What resolution are you playing on?

Try using frame gen if you have not. With how much fps youre getting, youll prolly not really notice a delay, especially when using a controller and that might help lower the CPU load, or rather it should lower the cpu load.

Huh wow I did not know raytracing used the CPU. Learn something new everyday, thanks. I play on a 3440x1440 144hz monitor. I tried using frame gen but it added too much choppiness for some reason. The software was saying the fps was smooth but it definitely was not. Guess I'll just frame cap to like 90 and try to enjoy it lol.

Yeah most (if not all) things use some CPU power, but ray tracing needs to compute more obviously as its rendering lighting more in real time, and how many rays are being cast ect ect ect.

If frame gen is being choppy, maybe youre just over the frame limit, No clue how that works though, ive only had frame gen being choppy in diablo 4, but I think that was happening with out frame gen too. It ended up gettin fixed though.

Using higher resolutions also uses more CPU power too. how much fps are you getting with out frame gen on? Cuz having higher cpu usage isnt really bad unless its causing a ton of stuttering and stuff. If theres no issues happening, then it doesnt matter.

RT in this game causes all sorts of issues while giving pretty minor visual benefits.
That monitor resolution is also a bit low for the GPU. I'd probably enable DLDSR, so 4090 doesn't get underutilized. That would also increase image quality quite more than what RT does.
