It's UE4. UE5 wasn't development ready in 2019 when development started.

It isn't UE5 since they started development before UE5 was released. However luckily Respawn has said that Jedi Survivor will do a shader precompile. They are also using the latest UE4 build.

Overall the gameplay experience should be fine.

UE4 it is. This version can still deliver very good graphics , and it should be no heavy for CPU/GPU. With RT off , of course.

No it did not...

I mean, I beat the game and had a decent experience, but I also had a 4090 to push through the BS with.

It really sucks that the game launched in such a state, because the actual game is amazing.

If the devs don't optimize the game properly it doesn't matter what engine they use

UE4 has CPU thread issues, games made on it tend to work like Crysis 1 did where only 2 threads are doing the heavy lifting and the others are either doing nothing or very light periphery work.

Seems the longer UE exist, the worse each game becomes that uses it, in terms of performance, FU tencent.

UE, UE2, and UE 2.5 were great.
UE3 - Horrendous texture pop in issues
UE4 - CPU limitation and shader compilation stuttering
