Rancor walking around outside in Harvest Ridge?

I'm currently exploring Koboh after finishing the main story on EA play and while trying to use a Nekko to superjump up to some vines in Harvest Ridge a rancor came out of nowhere and did the insta-kill grab and chomp attack before I could take a screenshot. Is that normal or did the game glitch?
