Chosing a stance
I'm still early in this playthrough. I don't really know what i'm doing, can anyone suggest a stance to specialize into?

Single is the easiest to use for those that just want a simple stance with not much to worry about. It's also the best all around stance so it's pretty noob friendly. Though if you do so you should probably have double blade or crossguard for your second stance so that you protect your block meter when things get heavy. Overall though, blaster and crossguard are the most op stances easily. Once you learn the timing crossguard is amazing, even with the purity and warrior perk it's still worth using crossguard above most other stances. Blaster is easier to learn and is basically a free win, so you can try that first if crossguard is too tricky at first.

darth maul all the way
Really just go with what you are most comfortable with. Ofc at higher ldifficulties some stances are more beneficial against some enemies but whatever you choose you can get through the most with the same
I prefered the normal single blade. No need for the fancy schmancy.

Sidestance was the pistol.
That was my combo through the whole game.

Are the perks useful for the single blade?
I love the gun and sword combo and the way Cal spins the gun and puts it in his holster is really pro.
I don't know if difficulty effects experience gain, but I played on Jedi Master. I did have a perk on the whole time that increases experience gain. By the end of the game (54 hours) I had collected almost everything in the game and had everything unlocked except like 3 upgrades into one saber stance tree. I did re explore each area each time I got the next progress gate upgrade, so that probably inflated my exp, but you should be good to invest in multiple stances.

I did gun sword pretty much the whole game once I unlocked it. Hesitated at first because it was fencing style sword, but the gun is just too useful. You can two shot storm trooper shields, droideka shields, mini gunner shields with the charge shot. Same with those Hoth style probe droids. You can charge it while dodging too. It also locks on extremely well to enemies without using lock on. So I could often get the drop on fights by basically sniping.

I agree with the gun stance. As a secondary I use double blade or cross guard. Double Blade is very good against many ranged units, because you can reflect multiple bolts at once. But in my experience it is nor very good for dueling. Cross guard is very good against mixed clumps of enemies and duels. Cross guard has to most blocking stamina of all stances which is pretty important in my opinion. One very good upgrade for the cross guard is, that when you reflect a blasterbolt ist reflects a charged one instead which explodes on impact. As a bonus it does a lot of damage so you can one or two shot most enemies.

I play on Jedi Grandmaster

The gun one is freakin powerful,no need to use another stance after that
If you really like lightsabers that much the crossguard is the second most powerful stance, you can shred everything with couple of hits but it's slow so high risks high reward
I went with DB + Blaster Stance for most of my playthrough, though I used Crossguard for a bit when I first got it. Double Bladed stance is really good since you get a lot of movement abilities and amazing crowd control, and the Blaster is just useful in all scenarios, especially if you do Caij's quest.

Use a mod and use all of them without using just 2/changing at meditation spot. Does take away need for planing which stances for each area works best but feels better since cal already has all the parts on person so makes more sense to be able to use stances whenever.
Just make sure you get Blaster Stance once you start facing enemies like Oggdo, and Rancors, especially the Force Tears where you face two of them at once. It's also great for some of the tougher ranged enemies in the game, which you will face on some of the tougher bounties.

It's equally as important to before pursuing the tougher fights, find as many stims and Force Essences as you can. This will allow you up to 12 stim heals, and Force Essences that increase Force power will make Slow attacks last longer.

It is also very helpful before facing tougher enemies to get all your perk slots unlocked. There are perks that work well with Blaster Stance too, one that makes Charged Blaster shots more powerful, and one that increases Saber damage after Blaster shots.

A charged blaster shot is the only thing that can stop some of the toughest, so called unblockable red highlighted attacks in the game, including Oggdo's tongue lash attack. Of course they won't work on enemies wielding sabers though. A steady diet of a charged shot, then saber strikes while stunned to replenish blaster ammo though, is pretty powerful against most enemies.
The dual swords (split) was great for me. Usefull for agressive and fast style.

That useful.
Is there a bit of meta to each stance i could read about?
Double-blade is useful as a secondary stance since it focuses on fighting multiple enemies at a time, which you'll do more of as the game progresses. For a primary stance, pick whatever. The other three are all very good in their own ways. Single saber for the traditional Jedi, dual sabers for flashy, offensive combat, and the gun/saber for something a bit different and oddball.
