Steam overlay not working fix

The EA App overlay gets disabled when running the game using Steam, which also prevents the Steam overlay from working

Use the following simple steps:

• In Steam go to "add game" at the bottom left and click "add non Steam game".
  
• Browse and add: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop.exe
  
• Start EA Desktop using Steam - Steam overlay works on EA Desktop.
  
• Start game using EA Dekstop
  
  Important:
  
  First start EA Dekstop, then start the game using EA Dekstop.
  Do not start the game using Steam, achievements wont be unlocked!
  The achievements wont popup while playing, but they 'll be unlocked after you close the game.
  
  F12 screenshots work but 'll have the wrong App ID!

Hi. Might I ask for a bit more information? The steps you outlined seem easy enough to follow but what I was wondering is:

1: You open the EA app from steam but do you then open the game from the EA app or from steam?
2: Does this fix make the Steam achievements unlock as they should?

After you started EA Desktop it wont matter if you start the game from desktop or steam, both start the Steam version of the game.

Achievements unlock, however i noticed i did not get popups that i have unlocked them while playing. But everything else works and the achievements do unlock propperly :)

Yesterday i started the game using EA Dekstop and got achievements unlocked after closing the game. Today i tried starting the game using Steam, 5-6 hours later i close the game and no achievements unlocked.
Seems achievements 'll only unlock if running the start the game from EA Desktop.

An alternative way is now that the game's been cracked is just add the cracked exe... absolutely no crime here if you own the game... and you can even bypass the stupid EA app.

As you can see they categorized under "EA Desktop" instead the game because the overlay is in fact running on the EA Desktop app, and it won't show them in your feed / friends activity.

I don't really care much, searched for a sollution because i wanted the achievements to work. But there are a few ways to manually upload screenshots to the correct game id, Google "steascree" for example.

I never had any problems with steam achivments not poping up only the screenshot thing.
Then the fix is not for me.

My achievements work. They don't pop up while I play, but they are there after I close the game.

by doing this i got overlay to work but i dont get any achievements during or after playing. do you have a specific way of closing the game? and when you go onto steam overlay does it let you click on the achievements tab? because i cant. good fix for the overlay glitch tho so thanks!!

After playing the achievements only did popup for me if i started the game using Dekstop, if i started the game using Steam and close the game i did get none.

I did not test it any further though... only played the game a little and obtained just a few achievements so far. No specific way of closing the game, just using the ingame menu.

I am probally just gonna wait until its fixed, playing something else now anyway.

Maybe try the trick with installing the old Origin version and the DLL from github, it's probally a better fix (dont have to worry in what order you start, screenshots go to the correct folder, etc) but i didn't try it yet.
