It made me have to do an awkward angle adjustment to get through the next wall run, but it gave me an extra spot to rest. I could usually make it to the swing bar, but would more often than not fall off the wall on the right of the big triple shield spinner, or not sync right with the spinner.
Once or twice I actually made it through the vortex, but was too disoriented to realize what to do after it spit me out. So I stopped, then came back a few days later to try it all again. Once I mastered getting through the first sequence properly by using all the shields, I could easily get to the swinging bar.
Then it was just a matter of realizing the wall to the right of the big triple spinner was best paused on after hitting it high, and doing a wall run, double jump, dash sequence a couple times after the vortex, finishing with a couple double jump, dash moves.
I finished by barely catching the bottom edges of the last 3 shields, but after checking other's vids, it seems to be common.

I can't agree it's bad game design though. I feel FAR more rewarded once I've beat a tough challenge in a game, and I almost always do better after taking some time away from it and rethinking it with a fresh, well rested mind/body.
