I dunno man it seems very consumer friendly to me personally
There isn't really any excuse for auto-renew to be automatic like that either.... I wanted & bought precisely 1 month; not 3 months, not 12 months, but 1! Why is auto-renew on by default? Why isn't there an option to switch it off at point of purchase? Why isn't it just off by default unless I change it? Why is it hidden away so much, & why doesn't it confirm billing, instead of just charging people without even asking?
It's just a scammy, slimy, sneaky thing to even do in the first place, & there's no doubt a bunch of people out there that will fall for it, otherwise they wouldn't try to pull a scumbag move like that in the first place. Anyway, if even just one person reads this & avoids getting charged & scammed for something they didn't want, then it would be worth it in my book.
I'd still avoid buying off EA directly, they only play somewhat fair when another company like Steam or a regulator is forcing them to. I've dealt with too many companies trying to tack on 'extras' without asking, or sneak in hidden costs to be anything other than very wary at this point.
