Per SteamDB, a patch has been worked on as recently as May 22. Whether it will fix anything I don't know, but it's reasonable to figure Patch 9 is coming eventually.

It's been a year. This game is trash.

They announced a fix alongside the last-gen console ports, just give it some time. It'll probably launch at most alongside those versions, so September 17. SteamDB still shows active work on it too. They've had this in the oven most of the year, and if they do in fact take the whole month remaining, it'll probably be one hell of a fix.

Game works fine for me, just started playing for the first time, only issue I have is I can't open the steam overlay when playing which sucks

That's nice, you're in the minority though, and sharing this does not contribute anything meaningful to discussions about the very real problems with the game.

My worry is that the PC patch will be a downgrade since they're repackaging the game to work on last-gen consoles. Easiest fix would be to "patch" the current game to be just less demanding just like the last-gen port.

I hope that's not the case. For those of us who played the game just fine, it needs to be fixed for everyone else to play. (I doubt my negative review will change, though. My friends don't seem willing to give them a do-over after they all gave up.)

Judder Survivor is still that. Not my words, DF and is the main issue. We are still waiting on a patch that is supposedly incoming "in the coming weeks". I have my doubts, as do we all. Honestly I don't care if they have to down grade the over all fidelity, the game has to be fluid first.

This would not suck so bad if it was a terrible game, but its not. Respawn did an amazing job here.. they just put there trust in Unreal sadly.

Unreal's not the problem. Every engine has had great and horrible releases. The engines only do what they're told to do. This falls squarely on the developers regardless of the engine. The engines trust the developers to know what they're doing, not the other way around.

I had this problem for a while until I read the solution when I was 2 hours into the game. You simply have to add EA Desktop to Steam, close the EA Desktop that is running and open it via Steam and then open the game while EA Desktop via Steam is also open first. And that's it, steam overlay working.

This is also a necessary workaround for some controllers, because an EA Desktop update broke controller support on some games a while back. I have access through the EA Play I get as part of my Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and out-of-box my Dualshock 4 just does not work, even though it had been fine on Fallen Order previously. So I have to do this to get Steam Input in the mix and fix everything.
