There are work-arounds in the forums if you really need it. Add EA Desktop as a non-Steam game.
Make sure that the EA Desktop app is closed completely. Then launch the EA Desktop application from inside of Steam. Then launch Jedi: Survivor through the EA App.
If done correctly, the Steam Overlay should be restored. There may still be some functionality that does not work correctly, but I have not kept track of it.
Another user suggests using the EALauncher.exe instead, which may be listed as "App Recovery".
With the launcher running, it seems you can launch a second application from Steam, that being Jedi: Survivor, which may fix the screenshots.

I have already returned it and hope that one day (probably through modders) it will be playable. Then it won't cost 5 euros anymore... shame on you EA
