The EA Desktop App got an update around January 16, 2024, which broke the Steam Overlay.

There are work-arounds in the forums if you really need it. Add EA Desktop as a non-Steam game.
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe"

Make sure that the EA Desktop app is closed completely. Then launch the EA Desktop application from inside of Steam. Then launch Jedi: Survivor through the EA App.

If done correctly, the Steam Overlay should be restored. There may still be some functionality that does not work correctly, but I have not kept track of it.

Thank you very much!!! Friend, you have solved a big problem for me, now I have to wait for these people to fix the damage to the application and take heart, may the force be with you.

What happens is that it doesn't save it in the Star Wars Jedi Survivor folder, but in Deskot. but well that's better than nothing

How am I supposed to take screenshots so they can be attacked to Jedi Survivor game in my library? Looks like we just need to wait for an official fix.

I can attest, this fix works.

I came across your problem. I wrote a guide, now you can take screenshots directly in the game itself, and not through EA Desktop.: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3171816972

Any clue if this will fix achievements? A friend of mine just bought the game and achievements are working fine for them while i've uninstalled/reinstalled this game 3 times already.

The overlay works yes, but I cannot upload the screenshots with this method. The game that Steam is reading as running in the background is EA Desktop launcher and not Jedi Survivor.

Another user suggests using the EALauncher.exe instead, which may be listed as "App Recovery".

With the launcher running, it seems you can launch a second application from Steam, that being Jedi: Survivor, which may fix the screenshots.

I tried this but still the same issue, screenshots will be listed in the app recovery anyway

Trust me you don’t want steam overlay working with that kind of game optimisation + denuvo

Also true again, without overlay and screenshots/achievements with the already poor performance.
I have already returned it and hope that one day (probably through modders) it will be playable. Then it won't cost 5 euros anymore... shame on you EA
