How is the performance now in Feb 2024?
I'm curious on the performance now. I've been patiently waiting because I've heard it's horrid, and I'd like to play on PC, but if it's a better experience on PS5 I'll do that instead. I've seen a couple of threads on this, but wanting to put my specs to see what others think. I'm also not too interested in the mods for this game.

I have a 3080, 10700k, 32GB RAM, and I play at 1440p. So, PC or PS5?

You really need to ask that question with your specs. Even a quick youtube search would show you that even at it's worst on pc it's still better than the consoles.

It def didn't release at 30 fps or less and continuously perform badly on absolutely maxed-out machines.

Is it still CPU bound?
Thorba Feb 19, 2024 @ 7:35am
Sadly i cant even play with a 4070gtx at 1080p everywhere smooth, the game is so hard cpu bound that my old i7 7700 3,6ghz seems not to be enough anymore.
Most of the time it runs good only at the great town on second planet is loses frames.
I could play hogwarts without raytracing total smooth everywhere but this one seems to be far more demanting.

Considering the patched the game like twice, nothing as really changed. Im starting to think theres like 4 people working on this game right now.. Its probably one of the worst supported AAA games Ive ever seen and its backed by some of the biggest companies. Shows if theres no micro transaction farm in the game, they really dont care about ongoing support. Game appears abandoned, I havnt even finished it because Im waiting for a performance patch to improve the end stated of the game, the cantina just laggs late game once you started to unlock everything, and My pc isnt that bad, 5800x with 7900 xt 32GB of ram.

This means nothing at all without specs.

Personally, I think this is targeted towards console players when referring to performance. I had to upgrade my GPU to 4060 rtx to run at 50-100 FPS along with a NVIDIA frame generation settings. I have 16 GPU RAM with 40 RAM. Sooner or later, it will become the standard though. Always does. Ex: 1 kb used to be huge at one point

Playing 1080p on a Ryzen 5600X with a 3060ti, 16GB RAM 3200MHZ and Win 10 with the game installed on nvme, it really depends on the area, certain smaller sections runs super smooth regardless of playing on High or Epic with RT off and using DLSS 3 on quality, but in most "open-world" area the performance is really meh (30-50fps), even with settings on Low, still feels like the game either sucks on optimization or EA thinks the new norm is owning a new gen processor with RTX 4000 series and 32+ GB ram for a smooth 1080p experience. Sucks considering I can run CP 2077 almost maxed out without issues along with other new games but this one runs so bad. :(

its funny I was just inquiring about this about a week ago on another discussion. I just recently acquired a new RTX 4070 TI Super for $400(After selling my 3080) and installed it and was curious how the game would run so I purchased it through epic with the intentions of playing under 2 hours to keep the refund available to me.

i5 12600k
RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB (Coming from RTX 3080 10GB)
32GB 3200mhz DDR4 Ram
32 inch 1440p monitor
installed on SSD.

While I only played that first part where you attack the senators ship and stuff, I was surprised on how well it did. Ray tracing seemed to be the big crutch. I was running everything on EPIC, wider FOV, DLSS on Quality, etc and I was getting anywhere from 80-110fps with dips to low 70s on occasion.
With Raytracing on I would sit around 60s-70s fps but when I went into the high 40s and 50s in combat and stuff quite often, which is a shame.
The cutscene fps was in the 50-60s no matter what which was a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I can get it for $37 on cdkeys and I am considering it now.

I just started a second run on my Ryzen 3600x and Rx 5700 XT, the frame rate is better than last year, but the frametime is the same as before, it stutters in the same areas: beginning and Koboh for now. Nothing too terrible to drop it for me, a Star Wars fan who loved Fallen Order a lot but if you can't stand lows it's better to look at some perfomance video, like the Digital Foundry recent analysis, before buying it.

With your setup I don't think you'll have many issues, but Coruscant can't really be used as reference because it runs really smooth and is one of the small maps, the issue starts in Koboh once you reach the town and gets worse as you get more people to join the Cantina. I don't have as many issues in the other planets, but Koboh can be frustrating considering how huge it is, seems the performance gets worse the more you unlock new areas. RT is indeed the big crutch.

The main point with the Cantina I think is because it needs to render the interior every time you enter it and then reload the whole Koboh section again as you leave (you can notice the stutter and sometimes blurry textures), especially because it refreshes the conversation options with NPCs.

Just reinstalled, it is worse. Tried the frame gen mod and it crashed. Worst SW port ever.
