Why are xbox buttons showing up on screen when im using a ps4 controller?

im using a ps4 controller but the button prompts are showing up as xbox in game

Might be some tool to emulate ps4 controller as xbox. Other games showing correct hints?

Are you connecting wired, or via blue tooth? Also do you have Steam controller inout enabled?

I play on PS5 controller via blue tooth. The game won't even recognize mine unless I enable Steam input and the game thinks I'm using an Xbox controller.

Windows assumes that a controller plugged into a windows machine is an Xbox controller... I think connecting wired is the only way around this.

Exactly the same problem for me !!
I use PS4 wired to the PC, until yesterday it was working great and the buttons displayed in game were the correct one (PS) since yesterday, II received a strange warning , I have to have steam inpuit activated and the button displayed are the XBox one

Which is very annoying, more than you would suppose ;)

It looks like it is a steam problem as the game was not patch

If anyone has an idea ? a clue he/she will be more than welcome ;)

It's because of "steam input". Before the last update of steam, dualsense and PS4 pad worked perfectly (with awesome vibration for the dualsense). You have to force steam to not use "steam input". It's in configuration -> pad -> playstation pad -> activated. Because the game support PS pad natively. Then disable steam input in the game page. No need of any external tool.

well, I changed the config (cannot find how to post screen shot ) and now no more controller
in "controller settings I chose :
PLaystation controller ==> enabled (if I chose disabled Controller works with Xbox legend)
rumble ==> on

all the other switches are OFF

The game is telling you that you are using the wrong controller. Always go with an Xbox controller when playing with a controller on PC.

on steam config you must change the controller config and manual change to ps4 controller same if you have nintendo controller by standar config steam put default xbox controller you change that on your use profile and the button must change to the correct controller you have conected

It was not 2 or 3 weeks ago whe, I bought the game, it was just running smoothly

go to steam and then settings then controller and inside option controller you must see

use nintendo button layout and must be deactivated or

use playstation button layout also by default deactivated you must turn in on

when you put it on the playstation or nintendo depend what you activated must be on all games for now until you deactivated and by defect use xbox button layout
