slow mode - how to activate?

friends, i can't get it to work.
i've activated it in the settings (30%), but it doesn't kick in in game.
figured i might need to change shortcuts (the settings below slow mode settings), but can't change the options - it's "audio ping" everywhere.
so weird. what am i missing? i am playing on pc with mouse and keyboard.
help appreciated.

edit: it finally started to activate in combat automatically, but how can i activate it manually?!? for jumping sections, for example?

You can only activate it in combat, with a full force bar (yellow bar, bottom centre on HUD).
There is a keybinding / controller button to activate it which is shown to the right of the yellow bar.
