Ray Tracing Crashes Jedi Survivor
I have been trying to figure out for a month now what has been crashing my game. I thought it may be ram instability issues. I changed the .exe to "high priority" adjusted compatibility DPI scaling settings. None of these solutions worked for me. It would mostly crash at the Darth Vader Fight and in the Desert with the walkers. I finally decided to disable ray tracing and what do ya know... no more crashes, period. I have a rtx4090 and it never occured to me to disable ray tracing. I just set it to Epic and forgot about it (32gb dd5 6800mhz i9 13900k z690i). However now that i know what the issue is... i find it unacceptable to add a feature like ray tracing when it will not even work on a flag ship video card like the 4090. I have found no other threads that actually address this particular issue. Thought are welcome. hope they have a patch coming.

yeah from others I've talked to this seems to be an issue only with 40 series cards. Not sure why. I never crashed on jedha with ray tracing on, but I have a 3070ti.

It's a real shame that patching for any ray tracing issues haven't happened yet. It's all be stuff to improve performance with rtx off, or just stuff across the board. But for those with higher end cards and cpus there hasn't been much post launch support. And it's been over 2 weeks since the last patch and much of this shouldn't have been unknown issues prior to launch. So there should have been work started on fixing these issues before we even started playing.

Personally I found the improved rendering with rtx to be worth any performance hit I was getting in places. I turned it off for a bit, but the extra performance when I was already above 60fps everywhere but right outside the cantina didn't feel worth the trade. So I turned rtx back on. It really sucks that 40 series owners are getting a worse looking game. At least on jedha by having to have rtx off just to be able to progress in the game.

I took off ray tracing and I stopped crashing on Jedha...so that does appear to be the issue.

I'm also using a 4090 and managed to finish the game with 100%, and finished a NG+ play through, so I've uninstalled the game and feel no need to play it ever again.

Currently playing on Jedha with RT and epic settings at 1080p FSR quality, still no crashes with a RTX 3060Ti , 16gb ram and Ryzen 5 3600. Solved RT crashing bu allocating 20gb of virutal ram. The game uses way too much ram.

just crashed on jedha with rt on in the unveiled hangar. was defo not memory related. the frozen screen had 12.5 in rtss. and that was with chrome running. could be another thing too. i left the room where they were talking. rt does not influence performance much and looks way better then screenspace garbage. pretty stable too. i think ima call it a nite tho. the last safe point was way back. will figure out tomorrow how much i gotta replay.

I also noticed RT doesn't affect GPU performance that much. I'm mostly getting cpu bottleneck with it on at 45fps in Koboh at certain locations T.T. On more closed locations, I'm getting smooth 60fps.

well... i guess my jedha crash was not rt related. or it only happens the first time you enter the hangar and library. for safety i disabled it for the first dialogues. played along. but put it back on, on koboh. totally didn't think to disable it for the return to jedha. no issues tho. just finished the second round there. complete with rt. that looked good and was fun. that teleport sequence was dope camera work. unfortunately didn't make it in one go. that'd been crazy.

I just got a brand new i9 13900k with 4090 and 64 ram, and started playing Survivor thinking I was invincible. Armed with ray tracing I arrived at Jedha. Lo and behold, now I am humbled. Crashes occur far too often, every 20-30 minutes or so.

Thanks Artillery75! My game kept crashing at some points on Jedha. Turned off RT and no crashes anymore. Rocking a 4070TI here.

Can confirm turning off ray tracing appears to resolve the issue.

Like that other AMD sponsored game Callisto Protocol. The Raytracing Performance is broken. Not one patch so far for jedi Survivor has improved or even made any difference when Raytracing is enabled. As the other game mentioned has the same issue despite being released 5 months ago. I fear it won't be fixed any time soon, if at all.

thats exactly the point where my game started crashing and i didnt leave jedha cause it has crashed atleast 10 times in less than 30 mins gameplay...
I will try disabling rt thanks for your sugestion

You have such high end GPU and it's "rocking". Install more ram or virtual ram, solved the issue with my 3060ti...still using epic settings and RT.

It is the same with me. Everywhere else it runs fine with everything maxed including RT with my 4090, but as soon as I enter Cere's base on Jedha it crashes saying the hardware was disconnected or something.

Turn off RT and it works fine, but I'd really prefer to have RT enabled. I think it looks much better with it on.

I have the same hardware. Just disable RT for Jedha. Every other planet seems to run without crashing.
