EA Play or Steam performance?
In short, is there any performance/FPS difference depending on where you get the game? EA or Steam? Using common sense, there shouldn't be but I'm no expert on anything, i prefer Steam, but on EA I can get it 25 Euros cheaper, so just asking...

no

No difference, but if you get on EA Play people report it sucks due to extra issues with that service. Basically you need to buy the game out right from EA or Steam.

Ya but from I gather, even if I get it on Steam, after starting the game it still goes trough EA app, so those issues you refer to should yet again be there all the same, right? One cannot avoid EA play either way.

i've not encountered any issues aside from when the servers go down and you can't login, but that's rare

So EA you say? Was thinking on waiting for Steam sale, but I'm not a man of great patience, I already waited long enough. It's still obviously crappy and that might not change anytime soon. :)

well it requires ea app regardless so i got it on there cause it's cheaper

i dunno how much you care about steam features like submitting screenshots and such

EA Play is games rental service. On the EA App you can also buy games outright, just like steam. Next all EA games on steam from Dragon Age on need the EA App running in the background (formally origin), and so do games you get from EA.

Also the issue with EA Play is the server that power it crash a lot, so while both steam and the EA App will let you play offline...the EA Play service will not.

Finally, no matter what you get make sure you get the version of the EA App from:
https://www.ea.com/ea-app

The one bundled with the steam download is a stripped version, and it only runs when the game does. This leads to achievements not unlocking and other issues, so instead just make sure the stand alone app is running before you launch the game.

you can't play this game at all if you can't go online and login, whether you own it or using the sub

there's no offline mode

I do not, but I do like *bling bling* effect and bragging rights on Steam achievements, apart from that I don't care.

Well my old Origin kinda transformed itself into EA app so I figure that should be a full, legit one.

I know but I can still get it even 5 Euros cheaper than Epic on EA. With coupon on Epic it's like 55, on EA I can get it for 50.

Steam is a distribution platform, and the overlay is a separate UI that appears over the game. It is not responsible for causing game crashes or impacting performance. The issues we're experiencing are due to the game itself being broken.
