STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™

STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor™

Ran out of memory allocating 16777216 bytes
Just Bought the game, run the game on default settings wich is 900p, RT on and a mix of high and medium settings, GPU seems fine but ram allocated more than 15GB on the opening scene and game crashed with the following error:
LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 202]
Ran out of memory allocating 16777216 bytes with alignment 0

Crash in runnable thread PoolThread 4

I alsso tried playing at epic settings 1080p RT on but got out of vram when trying to turn RT on...

My rig:
Ryzen 5 3600
16GB of ram 3000mhz dual channel
RTX 3060Ti

Turning RT off kinda of solved the issue (still got one crash with max settings at 1080p and RT off), but the game is still allocating a lot of ram, it can get as low as 10gb on some ocasions, but it mostly stays at 13gb and above...
I have to turn off background apps and browsers to keep ram usage lower, otherwise the game still crashes. Can't belive this game requires more than 16gb of ram to run, reocmmended settings say you only need 16gb...

I can play the game pretty smoothly at 60+fps average with epic settings at 1080p( and some random stutter, but not much), would like to play with RT on at lower framerates if possible, but the game just crashes. :/

Hope future patches can solve this...

This game is badly optimized, but I would add more ram. Or make sure the page file is active. Games are going to start require 16GB sooner or later as a minimum, I have 64GB in mine but I also want to run VMs on the side or Bluestacks, not while gaming obviously. I would bump to 32GB and give yourself a big buffer, your system will thank you for other reasons.

32GB ddr4 is a cheap upgrade. But I have never ever had problems with 16gb. Used to stream when playing games, a lot of browser pages opnened, no problem. This is my first unoptmized "next gen" game, I'm disapointed lmao.
But loving the game.
Either you turn down textures quality or add more RAM, this is only the start, new games will require more RAM and VRAM from now on because consoles can use upto 12GB and with RT and other PC goodies, the number will grow larger. So you will face similar problems in future titles.

BTW, 16GB DDR4 are cheap, just like $50, less than the game price.

Low graphics don't really change memory use much, doesn't make a diference, game still crashes. I'm getiing more ram, but not now.
Developers: Download some more CPU AND RAM!

You're running out of ram as it is when you run the game. I would upgrade before running the game. You also didn't say how much Vram your card has. Nvidia stock 3060ti cards have 8GB of VRAM. These will be sitting ducks for newer games soon because of the amount of ram. When it gets full or reaches a certain point, it's reaching for system ram and it's not there and then you get the error messages. It's a really high speed data juggling act. AMD was wise to beef theirs up in the new generation cards, up to 16-24GB. That card will have to be upgraded soon. They also need to release a patch to fix the crashing but your will need to sink some cash into your pc soon. Don't low ball it because you'll have to pay out twice. Once for the initial purchase and the other for getting it right. Been there.
SOLVED!
Increased virutal ram to 20 GB, I'm playing with everything maxed, plus ray tracing at mostly 60fps. Koboh's bigger open area bottlenecks my cpu, but that's it, same thing happens on the consoles, hope future updates fix it. Game is never using more than 7.1gb here.
Saw a guy running the game better than me with a 6gb RTX 2060, followed his tips and the game is now running perfectly.
The game is just using way too much ram and cpu at the moment, there is clearly some ram and maybe vram leak.

Something like this? What game settings?

The issue with relying on virtual ram is that it wears out your drive faster, the more you rely on it. Add more ram and this issue goes away.

This is not a solution, its a workaround, offloading to virtual memory is alot slower than RAM.

The game is running smootly now. virtual ram is saved for non priority task, like backgroup apps. Now I can use the browser just fine while playing. But yeah, I will add more ram.
They still need to optimize the game tho, now way Koboh uses so much CPU... My 3060ti has enough power to push max settings and RT, but RT just kills even more cpu.

more memory will not help this game has memory leaks and the memory usage will stack up until the game crashes. (You might have a longer time with more memory but it will crash after a while)

Unless you are working with a laptop... then it's an option in the BIOS.
For current games, it would be best to have at least 32GB of system ram in the computer, there's games that can allocate more than 20GB of ram, if you jack up the quality settings on them. It's usually better to have more ram than you need, as not having enough can cause issues with stuttering in games, if it's doing a lot of memory compression/paging in the background.
