Chained Barrels

quick q: what are the barrels you see sometimes that are chained to the ground. but they glow blue and you can levitate them. but haven't found another use.

if it's a part of the main story just say that and I'll wait. but at the moment i dont see a use for them

Smash them back down.

What Vigi said. Levitate them first and then smash them back down. The item they've held is then automatically collected.

glad this was cleared up, i was wondering the same thing. its not obvious at all, you get the same prompt to lift or push down regardless of whether its a barrel, or a wall grate, or whatever.
When i came across it, i thought it was part of a pressure plate puzzle.

Rank your force abiltiies so you have lift and slam , thats how you open the barrels with chains.
