SPOILER TALK - THE ENDING
So, what's your opinion on the ending?

Personally, I got a bit frustrated. I never expected Tanalor to be the last planet and boss fight sequence. All this building up of Cal embracing the dark side and then ending on some sort of a cliffhanger note. I expected the game to continue, but then I saw the name of the game in middle of the screen. It felt like ACT II that was supposed be a transition to FINAL ACT.

It is a pity that so much potential went lost:
- no dark side force powers (I expected them to appear eventually)
- no unstable lightsabers with cracked kyber crystal (the one that Kylo Ren had)

My expectations - my problems, I guess. Overall, I enjoyed the game. But story-wise - this game could have become a masterpiece among the other SW games. Shame.

Yeah. The developers could have done a bit better. Not saying what they did isn't amazing but as you said. They could have added a few more things:CalKestis:

Yeah, it was a good twist but the ending felt very anti-climactic... and magically the place that is impossible to get to without the thing you have been searching for, has a backdoor, that becomes known right after you loose the compass... Felt like a very lazy ending.

Not to mention Bode's rationalization of his actions... made little to no sense. The whole time we were fighting I couldn't stop thinking about how dumb this is and what was his long term plan... essentially in tomb himself and his daughter on this planet, which seemed devoid of life other than a few trees and sparkly grass...

Right? What's the endgame? You somehow manage to survive cut off from the rest of the galaxy, grow old and die leaving your daughter alone with no friends or chance to have a life or family of her own. Father of the year...

My thoughts exactly. I never get to understand how his plan was supposed to work out on the long run with his daughter and him being alone on the whole planet.

I'm sorry I felt both Dagan and Bode were just one dimensional villains and the plot just plodded along depending on how much exploration you did. Kata was completely tone deaf and just accepts being with her father's killers. But it's not like Disney has used the young kid gets mentor trope before, couch cough, clone wars, bad batch, rebels, obi wan etc... get ready for Cal in Star Wars Jedi: Babysitter in 3 - 4 years.

Also, did I miss something, did they ever explain the attack on Tanalor, or is that just a giant plot hole? One that no other character seemed to take into account... "Oh, Tanalor is the safest"... lol

I didn't care for the twist or the logic presented. I'm fine with Bode being some ex jedi who went imperial but like.. You build up Dagan as the big bad for the entire game and then make Bode the final boss? Lame.

Also Cal gets this dumb idea to use Tanalor as a base to attack the empire from despite how insane that is. he doesn't even want to check first despite the whole reason the place was abandoned was the Nihil found it and attacked and you know.. could still be there? For some reason they arent and its not even explained how they found the place which seems like it makes the location a huge risk until thats resolved. But no lets just grab everyone and go?

Bode also just kind of randomly goes insane in the end. Almost hurts his kid several times and somehow despite not acting in the capacity of a jedi for years is more powerful than the hyped up Dagan.

Just felt really like one of those Pitch Meeting moments "Wait why is this happening?" "Because thats what I wrote!"

For some reason I believe that Kata will become a playable character in the next game. And Cal as the main villian, who knows. I'm getting TLOU vibes here.

To be honest I though Fallen Order was a bit short as well.
Slaytherine May 6, 2023 @ 3:27am
It ends a bit short, I give you that. But I am fine without any dark side power since I suspect they are laying down path for the third game, in which Cal may submit to the dark side with the lost of Merrin and BD-1. Cliche I know, but Kata may play an important role in after Cal's story and upcoming tv series, this is how they may set up for the SW future.

Nevertheless, one of my complain is the High Republic story route. It basically adds nothing aside from Tanalorr. Dagan Gera is not flesh out as a good character, I just hope we could explore more in the past story, did the Jedi Order made a correct decision, etc.

I'm a little confused about the post-ending talk between Cal and Merrin at the saloon. They basically say something like "So what are we now?" "I don't know, but I guess they can't go back to the way they were, can they?" Like are they an item, or am I totally misunderstanding and missed some conversation where they broke off what they developed during the campaign?

My bigger issue was the fact that Dagan Gara and the ENTIRE high republic plotline was shoehorned into the story for no reason other then to have a big...shock factor when Bode ends up betraying you for some of the dumbest motivation of any character ever...

"Yes I want to live on an uninhabited planet, cut off with my daughter...forever...bye."

Imagine if Bode said this to crew: "Before times of the empire I was a jedi spy, but I left, because I fell in love. During purge they killed my wife and now one of the ISB agents is hiding me for the cost of being an imperial spy".

Main charachters would immeadiately help Bode. The fact that he had a red lightsaber doesn't meen that he embraced the darkness, that was just Dagan's saber.

I enjoyed it and think they laid a lot of interesting groundwork for more stories. I was starting to think Dagan would have been the end of it as he neared his end, even though that would have been a let down. It was definitely way ahead of other Star Wars games stories imo

Why did they mention a mystery Inquisitor killed Bode's wife and not just say who?
Why did Cere say Trilla's name when she died?
What happened to the Nihil who apparently found a route to Tanalor on their own?
Can Cal and Merrin maintain a relationship with the strain of fighting the Empire and managing Cal's fear and anger? He showed several flashes of hate when his crew was endangered and Merrin wasn't a fan.
How is being on Boba Fett's radar going to go down?
Why did Saw go dark on Cal? (I assume because he was paranoid about Bode after the rest of the crew died, but who knows for sure)

Those are just some items they set up within their own narrative, there's a lot of other possibilities to mine for more story as they approach the formation of the Rebellion.

While dying Cere saw the most important people of her life. At first she said Cal, but the closer she was to death the more she was seeing someone dead.
