Does this game have a sandbox mode like the first one?

Kind of.

It's kind of it's own minigame now. Holotactics. Your opponent deploys a number of enemies with points values, you have a certain number of points to deploy your own. Not truly sandbox (that i've seen so far) but does let you pit monsters against eachother.

Ah, interesting. I recently unlocked the holotactics thing by rescuing those aliens, but I hadn't gotten around to checking it out yet.

I dunno, it does seem a missed opportunity. I tried out the training thing at a meditation point thinking it would allow me to test myself against whatever enemy I wanted, but it was just a few limited tutorials.

i would love a horde mode those tears where you have defeat 150 enemies are alot of fun

Just started playing the game, love it great game like the first one but after reading these. damn I am a little disappointed it won’t have a mode like the first one did.

Holotactics also isn't really similar, because things seem to die much faster in that than they actually would in-game, probably for the sake of pacing.

Holotactics needed more opponents to play against. Knocked out everyone in like 45 mins, and didn't go back. It's a shame, it's actually a pretty fun mini game, but once I beat it, I didn't feel like facing the same unit groupings over, and over.
