You sound like you didn't actually play the game but watched a streamer play it.
Well stated, the combat feels "off", and the check-list nonsense further highlights the game's flaws. Btw., this is coming from something who's done Doom Eternal + DLCs at Nightmare difficulty. I don't mind a worthwhile challenge, but this is not it.
The first JS map was so good in terms of design, it reminded me of Dark Forces and Jedi Knight 1. Then the generic writing became more obvious, then finally the frequent bugs combined with cumbersome parkour took away the fun factor for me. The quirky alien characters are very good though IMO, some classic LucasArts vibes there.
Can't wait to play Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws....not. What's going on with entertainment and AAA games these days? It's getting worse and worse.
It goes from working in one moment to mindless spamming of heal in another while you have some dumb robot start red attack foot slam spam. Or 2 flamethrowers who you want to target but cant since they are one behind another, or 2 big enemies clipping through each other with big attacks. The 2 Rancor fight is laughable, with enemies casually clipping into each other and reaching through each other to insta kill you in 1 attack, its insane and studpi, you can even see what kills you half the time, and the buggy hitboxes often lead to you dying from noting while you get stuck on invisible walls.
Dosnt help game does nothing to teach you perfect evade .... and even then ... enemies spam weird AOE attacks.
Oh and lets not forget boss fights with multiple cinematics in them to break up your pacing.
The game just dosnt want you to have fun, its fighting with itself since it thinks it should be some Souls game wanna be, yet gives you enough heals to cheese the game and just face tank most fights.
Have fun with all they give you to use, Mongo. Mongo no smash.
the game is a game of "sit and block or dodge because the boss has hyper armor and will attack you through your attacks even though you are both using the same weapon" lmao
For enemies that have fast unblockable attacks, like the frogs, I use Blaster Stance. Why, because a charged blaster shot will instantly stop it's unblockable attacks, and it also stuns it long enough to get in saber strikes to resupply your blaster ammo.
A single Rancor can be defeated with Dual Wield Stance though. Maybe put on your thinking cap and try things you haven't instead of misjudging the game.
These are all on Jedi Knight, and I'm no expert at these types of games and at 66, hardly have what you'd call elite reflexes or dexterity.

You can also explore a ton and pick up Force Essences and Stims to build up your Force capacity, max health, and health recovery, as well as perk slots and perks. There are also perks that make the blaster do more damage and the saber do more damage after blaster shots. Then there's Slow, which can be a devastating finisher.
